I will try and incorporate some shots for you into this pictorial.
-
Yes you can. In photo shooting mode the picture obviously fills the whole display. When viewing back in photo viewing mode you will also have the photo fill the whole display - and it looks pretty good. When viewing cover art whilst listening to music, there are various different viewing modes, with cover art + track info or just cover art. In the latter beacuse the cover art is square and the screen slightly rectangular you get black borders as when viewing a 4:3 video image on a 16:9 screen. You can also view all covers at once (hence the tiling) - and the same for photos.

Format's demise leads to Australia facing massive Minidisc liquidation.
Richard replied to Christopher's topic in News
Well, I had a mail this morning to say my NH1 had shipped - must say I'm a bit perplexed at the all the people here who think the shipping is unfair (ok maybe on the NH600 the shipping is higher as a percentage of the total cost) but to be fair it has to travel half way round the planet.. plus the bundle pack is good value imho... They still have some NH1's for sale in one of the more popular stores in Holland for electronics and they still cost 399 EUR! I get a brand new NH1 - plus a mic (that over here costs 50EUR by itself), plus a carry case and 10 blanks and shipping as well all for 180 EUR - that's unreal -
It also made it to the front page of BBC news website today - full article at: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/4400148.stm

Sonic Stage install - Can I install without an internet connection?
Richard replied to bertnurney's topic in Minidisc
Can you download other files from the download area? What is the error you are getting when you try to download the 3.2 version? -
Sonic Stage install - Can I install without an internet connection?
Richard replied to bertnurney's topic in Minidisc
If you have no internet connection at all then you're in a bit of a situation - otherwise download the 3.2 full installer from this site: http://forums.minidisc.org/downloads/details.php?file=21 and burn it to a cd then install on your home pc. The 3.3 full installer is in the works I believe. -
I'll second that - I have an extra NH14WM for my NH900 and another for the E900 and never had any issues. As Sebastian says I would be inclined to stick with Sony original batteries myself, but that's just me.

Why Choose a SONY MZ-N910 instead of a SHARP DR7?
Richard replied to cambridgeman's topic in Minidisc
I think this one is in the right place (see top of page) "Find Your Minidisc" -
Actually for the Premium Members a possible explanation of Atrac Lossless is contained in the document we posted last week - explaining the different transfer modes.
-
It looks like they all have different values for the Album tag. If you want them to appear in a single album, select all the tracks, right-click => Properties => enter an album name which will be applied to all the tracks you selected. Or if they are already in the correct album just sort the view by album not artist.
-
It could be that is is in MPEG2 MP3 which is not playable on thtese units only Mpeg1 Audio Layer 3. Check by looking at the file properties of the track in My Library. If this is the case convert to an Atrac bit rate higher than the original MP3 file. To force SS to transfer the Atrac file, either delete (or copy then delete) the MP3 file - again via the last tab (File Info) on the track properties in My Library.
-
Not quite sure what you want to do but you can use Simple Burner to burn CD's direct to MD in PCM. With SS 3.3 you can rip to Atrac Lossless then burn a lossless audio CD I think.
-
At the moment you can import to Atrac Advanced Lossless which is a real lossless format - but this can't be transferred to Hi-MD. But you can convert the lossless imported track to 352 Atrac3+ and transfer this to Hi-MD.

SonicStage 3.3 Arrives -- a Reformed ATRAC is Born
Richard replied to Christopher's topic in Software
I am using SS 3.3 English and when I run the old AppLocale shortcut for Japanese Sonic Stage it goes fine. Try running Applocale and re-creating the shortcut for Japanese Sonic Stage. Btw I think Ishii just has some crazy skins on his Windows pc. -
Maybe somone can do a proper analysis of the rates, I unfortunately don't have the software to analyze them in depth. Good work Indeego!
-
Relative proportions of 352 track are correct - ie. bigger than 256, but way smaller than PCM: 352 Kbps: [attachmentid=1019] PCM: [attachmentid=1020]
-
Try this - import as 256 lossless. In my library, right-click file => convert format => convert to Atrac3 plus 352. Delete the Lossless file and transfer the 352Kbps file to the unit - does it work? It seems to on Hi-MD players.
-
Confirm it works, but file size on Hi-MD is bigger than the original track I transferred?? [attachmentid=1017] [attachmentid=1018]
-
Interesting but strange that you can't import as 352 directly? I will have to try to import as lossless convert to 352 and transfer...
-
So what did you import it as in the first place?
-
352? I tried 320 to my NH 900 earlier and it didn't work - am I missing something?
-
This has always been the case - it is a CDDB issue. I have only ever had one album with SS3.2 automatically assign the cover art - the difference in 3.3 is that you can see the cover art on the groups on the unit in the transfer window.
-
Hmmm I saw some of the White Japanese imports on sale at Amsterdam airport last week. Bit steep though at 329 EUR.
-
Yes I forgot to mention this was from Sony Europe, - not sure what the Connect Store implications are for US users.
-
I will test this now. I can't hear any difference between the "lossless" and the Normal Hi-SP track on the player. Edit: File size on disk is identical between "Normal" and "High" encoded Atrac3+ 256, import time is marginally slower - not sure I can hear too much difference either - need to test with some more tracks with different types of music.
