Is it a noise in the unit, or on the disc (ie can you hear the noise on the disc afterwards?) Could be the record head touching the platter, but I think that would destroy a head on short order. Can you look in the slot and see if something is jammed, or take the cover off and do a recording and see what you can see Good luck, Bob

It will be an exact copy of whats on the MD as it was recorded, unless it was recorded in PCM, there will be some ambiguity compared to the original, but reality is, unless it was on LP4, you probably won't be able to tell the difference, Bob

correct me if I'm wrong, but to the best of my knowledge the RH1, as well as any MD recorder will also play back what you have recorded, I use my NH1 and 600 and 702 and MZ 1 and SS322A (although the 322 is a playback unit only!) to listen to MD's all the time, and I'm not sure, but I don't think I'm the only one. If I were me, I'd try for another one, or send it to the repair depot, may be a free fix. JMHO Bob

I've never had the inclination to use itunes, but when my friend gave me an ipod I did some looking, and found mediamonkey, all I;ve used it for is to add and delete off the pod, but it does have podcasting and will play music as well. Bob

Put the unit in a baggie and spray some insecticide into it. Seal the bag and let it sit for a day or so. Get a can of duster spray, or similar canned air, use the extension wand and carefully blow into the unit, with luck you should get them all out. Be careful not to put too much pressure on the heads etc. Good luck, Bob
