try one of the Sony portables, atraclife might point you in the right direction. A 1 gig disc at moderate compression holds a lot of music, really not a problem, I find it hard to find what I want on the ipod that was given to me, but I'm always content with any of my MD's and a few discs, relic from the 60's I guess, Bob

Does sound like a head problem, but you can also try removong the battery for a while, and reinserting, also, try another disc, it is rare, but sometimes discs go flaky, Don't give up om MD yet, Bob

It's also been proven if you can't hear the difference, it don't matter. Numbers don't matter, what you hear, and what you like is what matters. Bob

Try one song you are familiar with on different bitrates, get some good phones, play back on random, and see if you can tell the difference, Bob
