  1. absolutely stunning, if the music is 1/100th as nice as the packaging it would be incredible. Thanks for posting, I'm on my way to check the site out. Would probably sound good on the earbuds I posted!! Bob
  2. "If you're just starting out, minidisc is a very quirky recorder because it records in its own format--not .mp3 or .wav. It requires special software to upload, and if you have a Mac, only the most expensive minidisc recorders are compatible. You have to upload and then convert the recording to .wav or .mp3 to be played back on most people's machines. Note: You also need to buy a microphone with any minidisc recorder, and for loud music you also need an additional gadget, a battery module, to prevent the minidisc from overloading and recording only distortion." It's not all that complicated, even with a mediocre mic you can get impressive results, SS works quite well, and once you have it in the puter you have freedom to do what you want with the file. I still think that bang for buck MD is a good alternative, and for starting out an NH700 or 800 will do everthing you need it to do. JMHO Bob
  3. there are parts of the world where if like you don't have a valid USA address they won't let you join. What I can't figure out, if supposedly they accept Visa for paypal, why not just accept Visa?? Bob
  4. You should be able to get an NH-700 or 800 on ebay relatively cheaply, this recorder will allow you to digitally upload to your puter, and media is cheap. Good luck, Bob
  5. Hey chrisg, finally buds to give you bass !!! (just joking) http://arstechnica.com/journals/apple.ars/...iant-to-pass-up
  6. Happy birthday boojum and skmetal07. Hope you are well boojum, haven't seen you on the board in a while, BFM should be on the way to you soon

    An Ode to Tubes

I seem to recall finding a place in Russia that still had and made tubes, try googling, or maybe Avrin can help Bob
  8. Hi Sarit The RH1 or M200 are your best choices, the 200 is the RH1 with a mic, if you have access to ebay there are a few for sale, as well if you look in the forum there are a few retailers in Europe that still have them. Good luck Bob
  9. Not really a stab at you, but us non-paypallers think that if we had a chance first it would be a nice gesture. Paypal is too limiting, that's all. Good luck in selling your unit Bob
  10. The M200 is smaller, media is cheaper, and interface good, take your choice, H2 has some poinys as TC has said, M200 has it's advantages as well. Having minidiscs for quite a few years I can attest that the sound quality is incredible, and with the right mics, live recording is great, as wel, line in recording is there Bob
  11. they all hve a pause, tell us your budget and what you need the machine for and we can help better, my recommendation for now, on information give, an NH 700 ot 800. The best, RH1 or M-200 TTFN Bob
  12. why do these j***s put their ebay items on this forum seeing that most of us can't directly buy on ebay becuase od payenemys draconian restrictions. Advice: if you want us to be interested on your item, post it here first without paypal, see what happens. If you put it on ebay, we're not interested Bob
  13. umwoofwooff, you are God, I'd love to see a picture of your set up, do you everything "out" and ready to use, or do you plug and play. Again I applaud your collection. Bob
  14. You definitely use the source, you are the source, welcome into the hallowed halls of M.D.A. right TC?? I haven't got any decks as yet, but this year, who knows?? I'm trying to get my TEAC reel to reel down here, what a team, R2R = MD Bob
  15. lots of versions of the song, all interesting, I think I like Kraftwerks the best, but Jean-Michels comes a close second Bob
  16. Listening to Ayreon _ The truth is here, great prog rock album get it, that's an order! Bob
  17. "on them before you can say "Jack Robinson". Jack Robinson couldn't resist Congrats on the 700 Bob
  18. is this where we say " And now for something completely different?" Life is fun with variety, I'm actually listening to 40 versions of "Popcorn, from the original bu Gershon Kingsley in the 60's to Hot Buuters, to Kraftwerk, to Jean-Michel Jarre and more, kind of fun Bob
  19. theoretically they will all sound the same, and yes they are rewritable, have fun Bob
  20. http://minidisc.org/part_Sony_MDS-JE330+M100+S40+41.html That's the link from the equipment browser in minidisc.org, shows it's an entry level deck. The 80 minute discs should work quite well, but you will only get 80 minutes onto them, and you will have to record realtime into your sound card to put them in your puter. A good way to start, but if you want more, an NH-800 would be a good start as you could digitally upload. RH1 or M200 is your real answer, but experiment a bit with the 330 as you already have it Welcome, and have fun Bob
  21. been there, done that, I feel your pain, found out that sometimes a break is less painful than a bad sprain. Take it easy for a couple of days and you should be doing a tango in no time. Bob
  22. I think his biggest problem is compression rather than loudness, seems most kids listen to their cd's etc on substandard systems so new discs are over compressed to make them sound good on crappy systems. My advice if you could find one would be to get a DBS dynamic range expander and try it. I seem to recall it made my early discs sound better, and did wonders to my albums. PM me jernikfra. TTFN Bob
  23. Take the battery out for an hour or so, seems to work with my NH1, try a hair drier on low heat on the unit for a few minutes as well. Good luck, and may the source be with you Bob
  24. If you can, get an RM40ELK, you will love it Bob
