You can also search the forum, there has been much discussion. The general consensus though is you can leave them off, they make nice paper weights. Enjoy your toy, Bob

Does it do it on all discs? SS does also have a problem with some MP3's, you could try burning an audio CD of the offending MP3's and use simple burner to tranfer to your unit. You could also try a rename of the offending songs and see if they get recognized that way. Good luck, Bob

especially since the early CD commercials showed CD's being used as frisbees, stepped on, and everything but being fed to the dog, and the being played. Hell, most of mine won't even play with a fingerprint on them. But they do sound good, and are reasonably portable, but not as portable as MD (had to get that in) Bob

Hi LV, I have many LP records dating from the 1950's and up that are still very playable, but in 20 years and hundreds of CD's I have probably lost 30% of them to losing the reflective layer rendering them useless. Many things CD's are, but long lasting, no way. JMHO Bob

For the Sig not really sure where I heard it from, could be Richard Pryor or Bob Newhart, it was at least 20 to 30 years ago that I first heard it ( hope I'm not dating myself too much) Take care, Bob

Giving an RH1 to all the bobt's would be a great idea for a contest start LOL. Thanks for the improvements Chris, Bob

You could always try going to babelfish at http://world.altavista.com/ and send the english and dutch translated copy, works quite well. Good luck finding a unit, tell us how you succeeded, Bob

I bought an NH1 from them last year and it took about a week to get to the Cayman Islands, you should have it soon, try e-mailing them, they are quick to answer. Happy RH-1 ing, Bob

be honest Chris YOU are the only one interested in deep bass, buy a decent set of over the ear, and not canal type headphones, and stop condemning for your perceived shortcomings. As for realistic sound, we are all intersted. Take care, Bob

Have a great day atrain hope the year is good for you, Bob

Welcome, and congratulations on your puschase as well. With my experience on the NH1, I think you will probably find t will be your main unit, and the 900 your playback unit, although with the 40 remote the unit is very versatile. I find that the time I actually have the unit in hand staring at it looking for songs is very minimal, usually it is in a pocket or on a belt holder and the remote is the only thing visible. I get asked all the time what knid of MP3 player I have when they see the remote, and they become even more impressed when I show them the NH1, it is impressive. Tell us in a few days how you like your units TTFN Bob

I had an NH1 from Minidisc Canada last year, and it took about a week to get to the Cayman Islands, they do give pretty good personalized service, Bob

As with anything, experimenting a bis is your bst bet, as well, if you know the performer or venue, and can get to the mixing board, line is=n is about your best bet. I wouldn't go much less than sp, but again let your ears be your guid. Also, welcome to the machine, Bob

Sony Hi-MD RH1 (Black) pictorial

Great job LV, unit sure is pretty, can't wait to get one to company for my NH1 twins, maybe I could try breeding them and see what happens (HA HA), How do you like the sound? Take care, Bob -
MP3's play back fine in my NH1, they are just put into ATRAC, lots of people forget that MP3 is not a fidelity format, but a space saver format, so even a transcoding isn't going to lose anything worth using. If true reproduction is what you want, PCM is the way. Arguably my 54 year old ears may have lost some of their discrimination, but being an audiophile for a long time I know that most "Sonic defects" that are heard are just smoke and mirrors, and on a double blind test with good headphones or speakers most people would be hard pressed to tell the differences between formats, as long as you aren't comparing a 44 to 352. BTW this wasn't directed to anyone in particular, just used the MP3 playback as a starting issue. More Peace, Bob

I am so intrigued by the fecetiousness of people that decry Hi-MD devices as "poor " listening devices. You people are joking aren't you. If you can record, you can listen, it's simple, it's easy, and on the same device. You can put 1 CD on a disc, or several hundred songs. You can find any song in a matter of seconds. if you lose a disc or it destructs, you are out 1 disc, if you lose your mp3 player, or it crashes (which they do), you are out all the songs. No device is perfect, but for most of the people on this fourum Minidisc and Hi-MD are what we want and need. Especially for the newbies lets focus on the positives of the devices. Not everybody wants jog dials or earth shaking bass, but we all want a small device we can carry around with the music we love, Peace, Bob
