  1. You can try removing the battery for a few minutes, and cleaning the laser with a Q-Tip, but more than likely your unit has toasted. For what it would cost to repair it you could get an entry level Hi-MD unit that will surpass anything the 707 would do. Mine is a nice paperweight right now due to most of what you'res is doing, next it will randomly erase discs, don't keep trying, or you will lose them. Good luck, Bob BTW, welcome to the forum
  2. Hey Greg, Have a great one, hope you avoid the splats, and hope your computer is trouble free, at least 4 today. Take care, Bob
  3. Was actually one of the first things I tried, unfortunately no luck, may try it again, who knows. Thanks, Bob
  4. Looks like a defective hard drive, gets very hot, and won't accept an OS installation, have tried to install Linux and XP onto it, both stop saying that no drive volume exists. I have another drive coming next week, and will see what happens with it. Thanks for the thoughts and help Bob

    BLARGH!

Paypal is the most useless service ther is. If you can accept paypal, why not accept a regular Visa card. Has me baffled, and a baffled Bob is not a pretty sight. Bob
  6. If you have enough hard drive space, why not go with both? Good luck, Bob
  7. Great pictures, thanks for sharing, Bob
  8. Welcome aboard, you have a nice collection. Let us know how you like your new ones once you have had them a while. Take care, Bob
  9. You could always co int commad prompt, to the directory and go del *.wav It will then confirm that you want to delete, very easy, sometimes command line is so nice. Bob
  10. Happy Birthday dieselducy, haven't seen you post in a while, still on the road. Big one, Bob
  11. My thought as well, I wonder how many we actually have once these yo-yo's are punted off the site Bob
  12. Good to hear, the NH1 must have a more forgiving charging system, enjoy your RH1 Bob
  13. Does it do it withh all songs, or selected MP3's. Some MP3's are copyguarded and won't transfer. Try making an audio CD and see if simple burner will transfer. Also, what unit do you have, could make a diffrence>
  14. Best bet is probably minidisc canada, you could probably try some of the Sony centres as well. Good luck, Bob
  15. What he said, to all my MD forum friends, Bob
  16. I love my NH1 as well, but knew that it would not work on a Mca, but didn't matter since I do not own a Mac. There have been work around in the forum for compatability, one is a program called parallels, do a search and try it. Don't knock a product for not doing what it was not meant to do Take care, Bob
  17. Again, I think the NH 7-- would suit you fine, lots of recording options, and Hi=MD as well. Good luck, Bob
  18. Just got my new camera, Panasonic Lumix DMC LZ2, seem like a nice little camera, strange no viewfinder though, price was nice though. When I get a few pictures will post them TTFN Bob
  19. Here's my plea for help. I've had a 120 GB maxtor for a while, was having the thought of dual boot etc with it, but every time I try to power up with it connected, puter just freezes, if I go into bios, it recognizes the drive, but when I save and reset, no boot. Doesn't seem to mater whether I set the drive as master or slave, same problem. Only thing I can think of is dud drive, does seem to run fairly warm. thanks much, Bob
  20. Hi Nimo, Welcome to MD land. Your 410 is a very old straight real time recorder. It isn't net-md or anything, so you plug in your optical to optical if you have it, or your line in to an equivalent line out and record. You will only get 74 or 80 minutes. It is probab;y a reasonable entry to MD, but you will suffer much less frustration by getting an NH700 or higher, or depending on finances, an RH1. But if you just want to explore, get a 700 Good luck, Bob
  21. Nice array of units, hold on to them. Thanks Bob
  22. The transfer should work fine to MD. The only way it will work for playback on older units, I'm assuming you mean non-Hi-MD units, would be to record them back on 74 or 80 minute MD's as regular lp2 or similar recordingd. The one gig discs will not work in non Hi-MD units. If I were me I would forsake the RH=10, and go straight to the RH1, I think it would work much better for you, especially if you want older unit compability. Take care, Bob
  23. Hi Chris, For a CD I almost never use SS, I find Simple Burner far quicker, and you have many options on the bitrate you want to use. I also find that most peoples hearing is not as good as they think, so I would recommend trying different bit rates and see what you like. Let us know, Bob
