Format's demise leads to Australia facing massive Minidisc liquidation.
bobt replied to Christopher's topic in News
wow that is pretty incredible prices, will have to see about another NH1 Thanx Chris -
What problems are you having? I've found on the real problem childs if you burn a cd of the offending culprits, the use simple burner it works every time. Good luck, and welcome, Bob
-
I Think the NH1 will work well for you, make sure you use SS3.2. Welcome to the forums, what kind of music are you making, posibility of a sample?? Take care, Bob
-
I would go with the RH10, if you want a camera, get a camera. It has been said elsewhere in the forum that Sony will continue with pro HiMD, and they have also brought out two new players, so Hi-MD is alive and well. Time will tell of connect works wit MD, but SS3.2 is very good. Good luck with your choice, and welcome

If I were you I'd go for the one with a remote, unless you already have a remote. Both prices sound reasonable if not a bit high, but I have seen them reach stupid prices in the last few weeks. Happy hunting. Bob

I was wondering the exact same thing, sounds promising to me. Must be waiting for more confirmation?? Bob

For the battery case to charge the NH1 it would have to be higher voltage and amperage. It will augment the NH1 battery and with the two you will get increased usage, but it won't charge by itself. Bob

If you take the cradle apart you can see where the outlet for the USB, you should be able to make a female to male usb connection Bob

Have a great holiday, and let us know if you see anything of interest Take care, Bob

At my age it's hard to have one favorite band, but the bands that have impacted me the most: Procol Harum Pink Floyd Tangerine Dream Manfred Mann I also like a lot of Trance and electronic music as well as Goth Boiled right down to my favorite album is Procol Harum Live with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and for something new Funeral by Arcade Fire sounds pretty excellant TTFN Bob

With a line in you can record off of devices that have a line out, like cd players, amplifiers, mixing boards etc. without a pre-amp you cannot record from a microphone. There are very compact battery powered preamps, but if you are spending extra for a preamp go dor a deck with a mic input. Personally if the price is right I would go for it. Bob

It would actually be in parallel to pic a nit, but the rate of charge would be very small, more likely it's like the supplemental charge the USB puts into the unit. Eventually, one battery or two, they will wear down. Bob

Your best bet may be to try and remove the disc and put it in a new housing with window. Expriment on a non-essential disc first, you should then be able to get one more play that you can upload. Have you tried the disc in another unit to see if plays in it, same applies if it plays copy it realtime to computer, or line in to Hi-MD, after which you can upload with SS3.2. Good luck, Bob

Appreciate your effort and dedication to us and this forum, If Sony knew the ups of what goes on in here there would be a proliferation instead of thoughts of demise of our beloved medium. Enjoy and conquer Bob

Chances are pretty good that there will be none for sale, if there are it will be in a seperate post. Pink Floyd is a definate keeper. Thanks for your cosideration. Bob

I would buy the best unit you can afford as a primary unit and get one or two units like the 600 for your run of the mill listening. If you really need mp3 one of the cheaper second generation units will do. Personally I just got another NH1, and wiil try to get at least one more, if not then a 900, and will probably get a 600 for my bump and grind daily manoeuvres/ JMO Bob

You seem to want to rely on the computer as your final medium, personally I would go mixer then a good recorder, whether MD, DAT, or reel to reel, the M100 looks very nice, as well as some professional MD recorders, check bandh.com as well as a few others I can't think of at the moment. I would only use the computer as the last step, not the first. I did a lot of amateir/semi-pro recording years ago using a Teac reel to reel and a very good Aiwa casette deck, computers weren't even on the scene at that time. The best thing you can to at any stage is start with a good mic and your MD, try mic and instrument placements and go from there. Happy recording, Bob

The 900 is built better, if you deal with Mac's the 10 is better, actually pretty good since it comes with mic's. I love my MZ-NH1, should have a new one very soon, mp3's don't figure much in my life, so I tend to gravitate to 1st generation. Don't be swayed by people who put the NH1 down for battery etc. Battery life is no problem, and once you have seen and used one, nothing else comes close, 900 comes closest. Bottom line you will be very happy with what you get just be sure to use SS3.2 Bob

Why not plug rhe 600 into your puter and record directly into the 600? Just an ides. Bob

Does anybody have Ms. Stringer's e-mail ((stringer@sony.com)?? just a guess), perhaps a mass e-mailing to sony showing the dedication of the people that love theses units, maybe there can be a turnaroung. Personally I don't see anything else that fits my needs as perfectly as the MD, don't trust a small hard drive, and flash is too expensive. The ideal thing would be for Sony to open up the rights to Hi-MD and let the party begin Hoping for continuance, and thanks for the e-mail Chris Bob

Just to let you all know I purchased the set and should have them next week, give me some time and I'll decide if there are any I want to get rid of. Bob
-
that's only about a week, they can't download it to you yet LOL Bob
-
Sony should look close at us and see that Minidisc does count, at this rate when do we have the world?? Bob
-
What I have read in the press releases is tha want to keep the walkman line going, and I include MD in the walkman line. JMHO Bob

The general consensus with recordings is to do the editing with sonicstage after importing. Can you erase the track marks and try again? If that doesn't work you may have to record it on realtime then re-edit. Good luck, Bob
