i just sold my sj-mj50. very pretty, speaker dock & can be had quite cheap on ebay, a fair bit under your limit new i think. the panasonics do have a very odd soundstage though, very prominent mids/vocals. nice build quality tho.

that was under the old software. these days sony has applied a looser digital rights managment, unless you have purchased the tracks online, you can transfer to your heart's content. i think you also have the right approach to SS, i don't like the jukebox style & i don't trust it enough to let it oversee my library.
