The Lashes - Get It Great rock and roll tracks. I'm pleased with my purchase.

Thanks GregTheRotter...just what I was looking for.

Ha ha! (Where's the person with The Simpsons Nelson avatar to say this?)

Defying Expectations, Third Generation Hi-MD Unit Surfaces?
Skradgee replied to Christopher's topic in News
Yep. That's what sold me on the NH1 vs. the NH900...back in the day. -
...that these come with cases that can be flipped open!? I had no clue until just now when I saw a friend open one by putting their thumbs on the inner edges and doing what I thought was the wrong way to do it. I was used to the small slip-type cases that come with other some other discs which definitely do not flip open. All you could do was slide the discs in. Crazy. So then I looked back at my archive of MDs and took notice of some other cases that also flip open. MD Head & Lens Cleaning discs come with cases that are like the ones made for cassette tapes, and one of my other 80 minute TDK discs came with a case like that too, so of course this is not a brand new thing...but now it's the best of both worlds. Flip or slide. Surely this post may invite some ridicule from people who have known all along, but I overlooked it for a long time! This makes for easier writing on those little J cards. Anyone else not know about this, or was I just totally blind and oblivious? EDIT: This should probably go in the Tips and Tricks section. My bad

Ha! Thankfully my girlfriend doesn't give me a hard time about this (I now have three Hi-MD decks, one of which she bought for me), but even if she did, I'll choose to spend my money however I want. I buy plenty her plenty of stuff so there's nothing to worry about. Off topic, I know...but just had mention it.

I noticed this too, and would like to see the Equipment Browser get updated. Maybe the mods are waiting to get more info about 3rd gen Hi-MD before updating?
-
Thanks for the heads-up, 1kyle. If I ever get another battery for the RH10 I'll be extra careful and try to make sure that lever doesn't break.

Ha! Thanks, Low Volta.

Despite living in Vermont, I haven't been skiing or snowboarding in years but I used to love listening to drum + bass and other kinds of electronic music when I was out on the slopes. Check out Roni Size, Dieselboy (not the punk band, but they're OK too), Goldie, and The Chemical Brothers (popular, but still good).

Blueraja, I thought that you purchased the DH10P from audiocubes? Were you able to return the first the defective one?
-
This would be my preferred alternative to minidisc recording. There is no FM radio, and it's pretty expensive, but this would be my choice. http://bssc.sel.sony.com/BroadcastandBusin...&sp=83&id=82662

If you search through the Sonicstage program folder for the annoying .wav files, you should be able to delete 'em or put silent .wav files there instead or something.

Wow. The silver is all shiney and pretty. It looks like a regular RH-910, just with a different color. I'm not sure if we can really call this a different model if only the color is different.
-
So now you get a different message, huh? This is a bit of a head-scratcher. Unless you're installing an old version of SonicStage (current version is 3.4), I'm not sure what the problem could be. What version of Windows do you using?

Yikes, blueraja! Those screens look sketchy...defenitly gotta get that thing exchanged or returned. Check out the WHOIS info... Welcome to the forums, thejeepster70. I found this old post about that same error code. It looks like you may just need to reinstall SonicStage. http://forums.minidisc.org/lofiversion/index.php/t13212.html

Yeah, it might be a long wait for third gen, but I'd say go ahead and get the MZ-RH10. I've been happy with the one I bought...OLED is nice, MP3 playback is a pretty good feature. It's not my favorite unit overall but I'm glad to have it.

Yeah, that recording may be gone for now, but hang on to that disc and don't erase it. Even though you may not be able to upload, or even play the recording...if you see a large file on the disc though windows explorer, maybe someday you can recover the recording if Sony provides Hi-MD recovery tools to their customers. Hopefully the company will make something like this available.
-
Hi deadwing. The first thing to do is upgrade to SonicStage 3.4 and then try to upload the file again. The latest version has relaxed many of the permissions for atrac files. Are you still able to play the recording on your player?

A pair of decent-quality mics will probably cost <= $100. Check out some of the etailers on this site. Look around and you should be able to find what's right for you. Also, you may want to check out this forum member's mics that are available for sale. http://greenmachine-audio.95mb.com/de-mic.html

Sarcasm? I could have let waaaaaaay more sarcasm go than I did. 0:-)

Welcome to the forums, sub27.

or, use an older deck that will go into manual record level control if you hold REC + pause for two seconds. Of course, you would have to own an older deck and want to use it (no PCM recording). Maybe it's time to send another email to Sony, stating how pleasing it would be to their customers if this old style of settings manual recording levels could be brought back on their next generation of MD recorders, if we get one...which I think we will.

This helps me, thanks WaywardTraveller. I'm always trying to reach the best balance of quality + space, and I was almost ready to break out the calculator and figure these out for myself. Mods/Admins, could we make this sticky or have the info posted at minidisc.org?
