  1. Pay increase? Hmm. What's 90% of 0? I'd imagine that it's not terribly expensive for Sony to offer several color choices for their products. Maybe someone can create skins for the RH1, and then we can all have whatever color we want.
  2. If you need to see pictures to compare, check out these shots from the recently updated equipment browser. Vote away!
  3. The bottom line is that you're not going to get more than 80 minutes on a standard audio CD. If you have a CD player that can decode MP3 or atrac files, then you could fit the whole interview on 2 CDs. But then that won't meet your requirement that the CDs you burn be playable on a standard home/car CD player. 5 hours = 60minutes x 5 = 300 minutes 300 minutes / 80 minute CDs = 3.75 It looks like you're stuck with four discs.
  4. Currently listening to Tool - 10,000 Days (256 kbps). Note: My 200th post. w00t!
  5. Happy Birthday to.........Kurisu and Jadeclaw! Have a good one!
  6. Way to be a clone. I'll look for you on the subway or at the bus station. I'm sure you'll stand out.
  7. Happy Birthday cthulu! Say hello to your mid-twenties.
  8. Design flaw? I experience this problem occasionally too, and have gotten used to it. It's annoying, but nothing too critical from what I've seen. Everything else on the deck operates correctly, except for that problem with the search button that other people have mentioned.
  9. Stick THAT in your knowledgebase and smoke it! This calls for the "bye" smiley. Goodbye.
  10. It’s unlikely that the security equipment will damage your deck, or your discs. I suppose something like that could happen depending on the intensity of security equipment, but I have yet to hear of someone who has had this happen in an airport, or other high-security place. So, you should be OK. When I first read the title of the thread, I thought that maybe you were going to secretly record some testimony or something. Oh! Put your deck and your discs with your keys and coins, in the bowl outside the equipment before you walk through. Then you should really be in good shape.
  11. If you want to buy a *new* MZ-RH10 (not the U.S. model), it's likely that you will have to spend more money for it. Like RobA said, check eBay. If you purchase one from 'buyfromjapan' you'll get a remote with a display instead of the displayless one that comes with the U.S. model.
  12. The administrators are probably working on updating the site. That, or something related to RSS isn't working. Apparently all the material on minidisc.org is being moved over to a Wiki so that we can do updates. If that is the case, I'd love to know more about this project.
  13. I haven't baked an MD deck, but I fried one once with reversed polarity through the AC in. I was bummed out...it was difficult to say goodbye to that machine, but I've moved on. Get a Hi-MD portable, or look around online for a replacement Sharp model. Either option should not be too expensive.
  14. Hey wedraper, I saw the Rebirth Brass Band last summer...they put on a great show. I was actually working security and recording the show simultaneously. Good times. I'll try to check out your recording.
  15. Welcome to the forums, LiquidLithium. What version of SonicStage are you using?
  16. Check out a Sharp standard MD player. I don't have a specific model in mind, but I may eventually pick one up to hear the difference in sound that people talk about. The Sharp players apparently sound 'warmer'. The NH1 and DH10P should sound the same since each has the HD amp. If you're looking for the best sound quality overall from a Sony model, I'd say choose a player with an HD amp. IMHO, those models will offer the best sound (in a NH1 vs. RH10 situation, for example).
  17. Yup. I'm one of those people. Now that I own a PSP, I still haven't bothered to pick up any UMD movies / TV shows to watch on it. I've seen a few that might be nice to own, but even then...I'd just buy the DVD and try to copy it to a flash card. Why should I have to buy a movie twice? When the PSP was first introduced, I was surprised that it didn't just support standard DVDs. Yeah, the unit would have been a little bigger...probably more shaped like a portable CD player and whatnot, but it didn't seem necessary to develop another whole media format. Eh...it's the same old Sony song I guess. They'll bounce back. Hopefully the PS3 will right their wrongs.
  18. Welcome to the forums? You'll need a Hi-MD recorder to do this. Standard MDs can be formatted in Hi-MD mode to get more record time / storage space.
  19. These forums (and members here at the forums) should be able to provide all the supplemental help you'll need. Do you have a specific question about how to use the MZ-NH1?
  20. The gumstick rechargeable battery should be expected to have decreased battery life over time, but I can't see any reason why you'd experience poor battery life when using fresh AA batteries...unless the anti-skip protection is working overtime or something like that. Using only AAs with an MZ-R55, I used to fill 80 minute discs with live recordings and the batteries would maybe have half their life left after that. Now I have a rechargeable battery to use with the AAs, but that deck doesn't get used much anymore. Maybe you're par for the course and really getting what you should be for battery life…not sure why it would seem like less. Are you using the rechargeable battery with the AAs?
  21. Additionally, one of the models listed is out of stock. Weak. I wouldn't read too much into the lack of models listed at the site. I'm sure they have to make a space for the RH1, but not seeing the RH10 listed in kind of surprising.
  22. Neat. Too bad I'm a North American resident.
  23. Yeah, the toothpaste method of removing scratches is bunk. It made no difference on the remote for my NH1. Seek out another solution.
  24. It could be, I suppose. You said you disassembled it...according to the service manual even (good thinking). Maybe you could disassemble it again and try to find the problem area. If you can hear the sound when you apply pressure to the headphone plug while it's in the jack, maybe you could find some way to rig it so that pressure is constantly applied. You could use some tape, but that's kind of a ghetto solution. Retiring a deck isn't much fun but defenitly check out moving up to Hi-MD. You can probably still find new 1st and 2nd generation recorders from online retailers for ~$150.
