I don't know about Argentina but there are a couple of people from Chile IIRC. I speak/write Spanish (at least it's understandable) if that helps.

It really is good software. It is my weapon of choice when editing. I have done multi track soundtracks for school/church plays on it with very good success. Your multi tracking capabilities will depend on your CPU/RAM but my humble Athlon 1800+ w/ 512 MB RAM is able to handle up to 16 tracks of wav audio without a hitch.

Using a minidisc player as an external DAC

In that case a Creative Extigy can be had on eBay for cheap. I got mine for $40. It can be used without a computer. -
Also, if it is the headphone output, flatten the EQ if any or turn off any base boost.

I'll second the Audacity suggestion. It is really intuitive and a manual is online. It also has the ability to use VST plugins if you are so inclined.

Nice! I tried to get one on eBay not to long ago and lost the bid. I am still searching but not as much anymore.

Well, if you want to do that it would have to be Hi-MD formated and just run it through some sort of shredding program. I use the one included with Spybot Search & Destroy. It is up to DOD standards for erasing data. Technically it overwrites everything with garbage data so there is data on the disc just nothing that can be read or more like understood. Why do you want to do this?

If the disc was recrded in SS and on NetMD, your only choice is to connect to SS and format it. In SS you click "Device/Media Info" on the botom right of the SS window and the option to initialize (format) is there. If it was recorded by the unit itself then you should be able to go to the edit menu and select erase all from that menu. Then it asks you to confirm it. Once you confirm it it will erase everything.

Since the EULA specifically states: Probably not.

Most sound cards just ignore the SCMS flag hence copying to computer is not hindered. The rules for copy protection did not apply to computer equipment. That is changing. There are some sound card appearing that do respect the SCMS flag.

You could even get a 1.5 amp supply and it would not hurt it. The unit only draws what it needs. It's when you don't have enough amps that you could run into problems.
-
Just use whatever sounds best to you and forget about all the technicalities behind it. Enjoy your music!

From what I remember it is 1 amp.

I know there was a thread here that discussed the gaps in recordings. It was suggested that there was a batch of bad discs that caused the problem but I don't think it was ever proved. I may be wrong though.

Okay, it might be the USB port on your unit. It also may be a loose connection within the unit. Do you hear the regular windows ding when you plug it in? Try pushing the cable in slightly to make sure it is making full contact. My system is AMD based and when I had my first N510 I had this problem. It turned out to be chipset drivers. Once I updated to the latest drivers I had no problems and have had no subsequent problems with any other unit since.
-
Other USB devices work when plugged into the same port?
-
Did you try try the MDAC repair tool like A440 suggested?
-
Really? I never tried recording that way since I did not have a need. That stinks. The best way to deal with it on a non USB capable unit IMO is to record optical from a CD player. There is no futzing around that way.

I updated the pictures. Still not the best I have taken but a lot better than the previous pictures.
-
What are your system specs? Are you connecting to USB ports on the front or back of your PC?
-
Someone brought this up in another thread. You could turn automatic track marking off and put it to a preconfigured time like 5 minutes instead. This will at least reduce the amount of track marks.

I got this case from www.minidiscaccess.com. At the time they were running a promotion where if you purchased more than $25 they gave it to you free. I really like it. Has room for 12 discs a unit and accessories. I carry it in my backpack. It's about the size of a shaving kit bag.
-
Do you want something to protect/transport the unit or something to clip/carry on you?

It is pretty well documented how to change the language from an Asian variant to English. At least I remember several people posting the instructions.
