So, I see you gave up on the black NH900? Nice aquisition!

How long does SonicStage take to load of your computer?
KrazyIvan replied to mercury_in_flames's topic in Software
SS 3.4 First Try: 14 secs. Second Try: 6 secs. AMD Athlon XP 1800+ (1.54GHz) 512MB DDR3200 (yeah I know it's underclocked) SS library size: 2.3 GB -
I have noticed this on an MP3 player I have and different headphones. I have not used etymotic phones but I get the general impression that they are higher efficiency phones showing the shortcommings of the amp on the MD unit or impedance differences making itself known.
-
No MDLP unit could do that. You need a Hi-MD unit to do what you want. From there you need to decide what kind of options you need such as the ability to record from a mic or not, etc. What will the unit be recording from?

I have a mint R900 and I don't have the problem mentioned. I was going to suggest maybe the gumstick battery is swollen but since it works when upside down, that may not be it. It may still be worth checking out. The other thing is that there may be some play on the read head. That head has to be a very specific distance from the disc in order to work. If it somehow pulls away from the disc while in use it would certainly stop playing. Maybe the transport is not aligned perfectly. In all those cases it would need to be looked at by a tech and could be costly to repair.

www.minidiscaccess.com has the waist band casses I beleive. I have brand new armband cases for sale.

I rented Fantastic 4 and Lord of War over the weekend.

I am not eating right now, but I have a sudden craving for a burrito. Not any burrito though. It has to be a bar-b-q brisquette burrito the size of your forearm.
-
Yeah, I can see that happening but like you stated already, a real engineer will figure it out fairly quickly, even on gear he/she does not use on a regular basis.
-
LOL Basically what I told this guy over at the T-Board.
-
It could be the disc but if it does it on other discs then it is probably the record head. I had an R500 that I ended up selling as a player because of this.

Sorry for the off topic comment but I love your pen mic! Awesome! Okay, carry on.

A track lighting system for my office. 2500mAh Energizer rechargable (8 AA and 4 AAA + charger). AAA are 850mAh but I needed them. Some herbal tea A 17" TFT monitor (whew! got rid of my desk hogging CRT!) An at faucet, water purifier thingie (tap water never tasted this good!)

And some more linkage straight from the EFF: http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/archives/004409.php

That does not cause the disc to eject though.

True, but I seriously doubt anyone is going to hear the difference in real world situations, even people with "golden ears". I guess I should have been clear. I was thinking as opposed to bouncing tracks the old fashioned way, on a multitrack tape recorder. The sound quality loss is almost nothing on the computer, unless you are doing something really wrong.
-
I am not sure I understand the question. I use wav because it is lossless and there is no conversion when transferring to CD audio. Sometimes I "bounce" tracks around and there is no audio quality loss when working with wav and bouncing tracks. Wav is also pretty much universally supported by most audio editors.

M Audio makes an interface that runs on FireWire or USB for a computer. It has several inputs like 1/4" jacks and XLR. Price is about $250-$300 USD IIRC. I don't know if they ship to the UK but just so you can get an idea: http://www.zzounds.com/item--MDOFWSOLO

I have had it on my system for some time but I have not played with it enough. I keep going back to audacity.
-
It looks a lot more like a traditional mixing console too.

I don't know of any portable that will let you edit as accurately as a deck. Most of the editing is done by ear.

My current desktop. A slight change from what I had before.

Holy Cow! I think I might bid on it.
