  1. Hmm I think u got the date wrong? April 1st was 2 weeks or so ago. If not a joke then the band must be masochistic and dont mind if just 20 people listen to their music?
  2. very nice now are there any plastic parts in the mini disc palyers that we own that need replacing that you can print for us?
  3. yes the rh1 works without a battery , I have never used my battery as I only use the device connected to my pc. will the battery still be ok after all these years?
  4. wow at 9 discs 6 unused I am rich lol
  5. I would only bother with himd if I am going away for a few days and use the max compression ( 48kbs? or is it lower?) to gets lots of spoken word comedies onto the disc - I have a few himd discs - 9 i think 2 packs of 3 unused/unopened
  6. sounds to me like a pr/sales ploy? like cd perfect sound probably was better than average quailty control of the discs so they dont wobble so much due to thickness or circularity variation
  7. I am surprised that any one cares about this particular device model any more? Unless you want to run a museum? I wouldnt mind the JAES333 ( is that the model number?) but not this one! For me the JB940/980 is really good enough for the likes of minidisc!
  8. maybe its time to think about getting another one off ebay? even just a JB940 which is almost as good and better made any way?
  9. I have the MZ-NH600 so must be similar to that? is yours an AA battery model. Apart from a crummy little display ( for my eyesight ) and it being plastic my MZ-NH600 makes good sounds I found this from 2005 re the 700 -
  10. I have lots of these discs never found any problems with them. with any of my Sharp portables or SOny decks incl JB940 ( I do have a 980 also but is in storeage ). So very puzzling. Could be that the JVC discs are at some limit for the deck which is now upset by the knock? Where as the other discs are within tolerances. How many discs are you talking about - 10s 20s lots? I have 100+
  11. actually Sharp non net-md minidisc players like the MD-MT88/99 will clean a net-md disc I think. I tells u its protected but allows u to any way ( I think thats my memory )
  12. as if any one will import it into the UK. Oh a cd -minidisc combo? what the h*ll is minidisc?
  13. oh by the way I have an old US Robotics modem ( the thing that used to chirp at 56k ) combined with a hands free telephone/answer machine that I still use ( the telephone part ). Attached to my computer it can down load the messages for safe storage or use the pc to dial numbers in its saved list. Very good sounding it is also.
  14. Ah so you have a working laser disc player? now thats interesting.re standalone gps , I still use a Fugitsu Pocket Loox 710 pda for mapping and gps - it uses real Anquet maps similar in quality to OS maps. And unlike "modern" alternatives - garmins or smartphones has a transreflective screen so in bright sun lght doesnt need a back light! The thing I DONT like about modern tech is the in built obsolescence? That is a cliche I know but eg Apple smartphones and ipads ( as well as most other those with Windows on also ) dont use screws to bolt them together but GLUE. The battery is calculated to last until its time to get a new one. For those who want to keep them longer and replace the battery it is a matter of getting a heater and melting the glue - I have seen it done. What a crazy world. Thats why I will NEVER buy apple or any of these tablets how ever good they are - The same is true of Kindles I think. My note book is an old HP nc400 dual core that is now 8 years old and still going strong and is still good enough for general use. AND looks very nice - a cool charcoal black.
  15. quite a nice machine. I hope u get a good price
  16. The road to obscurity.... the BBC reports on earlier devices that are now quaint http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-31920948
  17. maybe just the power adapter faulty?. Its an occupational hazard with note book power supplies - the cables get bend this way and the other and sooner or later the cable in side breaks some where. The number of times I have had to buy a replacement psu from ebay for that reason.
  18. I wonder if he is just noticing the lube on the top surface? in my mini disc ownership early days I took a load of minidiscs back to a hifi shop saying the top surface was scratched or some thing as you could see circular lines where the record head had on the top left marks ( in the maybe excessive lube)
  19. this is one of the reasons that minidisc died.....
  20. congratulations! I my self avoid little things like that, I end up destroying things
  21. I really wouldnt clean the insides of the disc as they have some kind of lubricant on the silver top surface so that the record head doesnt wear too much I think. Washing might remove this and in the long term damage your recorder capability
  22. You consider getting a very cheap HP business note book like the nc4400 that come with xp prof. They are very fine dual core 2 ghz from c 2006, and use it just for sonic stage. Will prob last you the rest of your life if u get a good one. If you are in the USA I thiink these note books go for very little these days
