what did the JB930 die of ? and how much to repair? -
by the way did it ever work? or got from ebay missold as a working machine - then contact seller for re fund or complain to ebay ?
-
I did a google - http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sharp_MD-MS701+MS702.html mentions the fault this soln - hmmm seems extreme.
-
strange the links works for me. paste this into browser . I ll try quote it " without the "". here a few quotes from that - "Infamous and common bug for this machine. Mine died a similar death....just hit Ebay, but avoid this model." the url does mention a soln but the link there dont work for me so I cant see what it says. it seems that the minidisc you have is one to avoid as that error common.

You dont need water to get rid of labels on mindiscs - lighter fluid does the job better ( assuming you can get it where you are). just put a little on the label and cover it up to stop evaporation and leave it a few minutes. it will soften the glue on most labels, u can then use a tissue with some to remove any remaining glue

well other people will have to make up their own minds on this matter.dont know how to resolve it. I always understood that the magnetic record head did contact the upper surface of the disc. other wise no reason to have any kind of lubrcant on the top surface and explains the marks I saw on the disks I got from Richer Sounds long time ago.
-
The point is that you risk washing off the lubricant from the top surface of the disc!!!! read what I said about lubricant & record head and therefore in the long run ruin the record head of your recorder or even make the motor work harder as the record head has more friction on the disc?
-
well the record head does touch the disk - so they can over time wear out I suppose or the contact area get unstable? Also the record head can wear out I suppose ( like the tape heads on tape recorders )The disk has a lubricant on the top surface for this reason & I have wondered whether this can dry out over time or go off. The play back head doesnt touch the under-surface so once recorded should last a long time. The discs them selves therefore dont like water or washing! With some discs u can see this lubricant as smearing on the top surface. I once took some discs back to Richer Sounds for that reason before I knew any better lol I thought they were scratches.

hmm $5 billion still seems a lot? just half of at peak?
-
I hate this technology that cant be repaired. Which ever clever dick thought up OLED displays, he/she should have an accident? The non backlight type are good enough I think.
-
no one has replied to this no one here can help him? I did a google and came up with this - or this http://www.manualslib.com/manual/353231/Sharp-Ms702-Minidisc-Recorder.html?page=40 means a corrupted disk? do u get with all disks for just one? if just one throw it away as probably no good if u get with all disks then some thing wrong with player. more I dont know so try looking back thru all the messages in this forum jaisai

maybe post on your local Freecycle site - i got about 30 2nd hand ones for free that way. And also some extra music to listen to lol
-
dump it. if it has music on it of value you could give it a very good wash and dry but that would remove the lubricant on the disc so u wouldnt be able to use it to record any more - the record head is a magnetic one that actually contacts the disc, hence the lubricant. how on earth did u let fungus grow on it?. Dont let it get near any of your other ones - have a good look at them if it has to see if they are affected.
-
well how many people here are willing to pay $20-30? not me. I have 3x3 packs of them and 2 are un opened as new. And the opened ones have been used only a couple of times. I might be tempted to sell a 3 pack for $90 or equilvalent in UK pounds. offers?
-
The Ebay Sellers would like to think that lol. I would like to know how many people realy into minidisc now - I think a few handfulls
-
I got a couple of dark blue NH600's a few years ago from Argos Ebay dump shop for £40 each new. The Blue ones look good, the silver one not I think. They work well enough & I think will be around long after the last ipod is buried. AA batteries rule ok!
-
Oh how do u turn off the screen? I have one of these not used much and dontt really need to see the screen, might as well protect my invenstment
-
The trouble with the Sony MZ-NH600 is a small recessed display. no mic input just a usb port & optical in. rather plasticky. takes AA battery.
-
hmm £20 too cheap. I want £120 each -- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Hi-md-Minidisc-Blank-Hmd1ga/dp/B00E963AY4/ref=sr_1_10?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1406816160&sr=1-10&keywords=himd+discs

-

welcome and goodbye niice knowing you lol -
Do u have a lens cleaning md disc? It could be a dirty lens. I dont use mine often, maybe 4 time in the last 6 years as many people dont recommend their frequent use.
-
no idea, mine has been faultless. Have you tried a few different ( brand) discs? I take it you have been using the external power supply? does the motor turn.whirr? Was it always like that or u got it that way? Maybe the corrosion got inside? I doubt it worth gettng repaired. Looks like its had it. I dont really have a clue. A real shame. seems like u have had a lot of bad luck buying from ebay
