Raintheory has the answer for you: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?s=&am...st&p=102158 PS Searching this forum for old threads comparing MD units would help you out a lot and get your questions answered faster and in more detail.

Happy birthday, (yamagata)camille. Hope you get even more headphones or CDs.

Wow, good find. I've actually bought from Dbuys before, but it was a long time ago (got my brother's 4G iPod from them 2-3 Christmases ago at about 20% less than other e-stores were selling it and they also gave free shipping). I had no problems with them and they were quick to answer any questions I had.

Dr Dann: PotAYtoes. PotAHtoes. Take a look here: http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-NH600D.html Back on topic. killinglonelinesshim: You might want to check out reviews and threads on the RH10. Quite a few RH10 users are reporting that the display can be difficult to see in bright light or sunlight. So I'd also look into the RH910.

No offense, but seriously, slow down. Ishiyoshi isn't a professional icon-maker and this isn't MDCF Icon Factory. That's a very large request so why not make some of your own? Your last link leads to a page that contains a tutorial for making icons. You love minidisc and rarely post on this forum so making icons would be a way to give back to the MDCF community. Here's the site from your link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default..../winxpicons.asp

Since you'll just be transferring mp3 files, a downloader-only unit would work. I'd look into the MZ-DH10P. It has a full color screen, displays album art, and can take pictures, too (if you're into that). It can play mp3 and ATRAC3+. It also has Sony's HD digital amp for better sound quality and connects to USB using a nice cradle. As far as I know, Sony remotes are interchangeable between units. My 33EL works on my EH1/NH3D/NH1 with no problems. Check it out here: http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-DH10P.html Edit: Just FYI, only Sony makes Hi-MD portables. Onkyo is the only manufacturer that I know of who makes Hi-MD decks. With Hi-MD right now, your choices are kind of limited - no Hi-MD Sharp, Panasonic, etc. Good luck. Edit2: I forgot to mention. If price is a factor with you, the RH10/M100, RH910/M10, and DH10P can be found online for around the same price. (~US$200)

Ishiyoshi: You are awesome. Thanks!

If no one from this forum bites, you can always try asking the eBay seller, "buyfromjapan." He has the black HMD1, brand new in box. US$158.00 + $20 shipping from Japan to North America, Europe, and Australia. Excellent reputation with MDCF and T-Board. You can ask if he can get you silver instead. Good luck.

Go directly to jail. Do not pass Go. (lol) Hey, at least you're not one of those eBayers who's selling printouts of the FREE pdf files of MD units' user manuals. http://cgi.ebay.com/SONY-MZ-NH1-Portable-M...1QQcmdZViewItem

Maybe you should stay away from the RH10/RH910 and M10/M100. They can't record in SP, only Hi-SP, so the minidiscs can't be played in your E40 and JE320 (that is, if you plan on using these units with your recordings). I second the NH700 since it can record in SP.
-
I'm a little confused. The NH1 can't use an AA battery case. Do you have an "N1"?
-
Hardly any? I can name 3 eBay sellers who have the NH700, NHF800, and NH900 (all brand new) and have been selling them regularly since last year. There are 2 sellers who consistently have the RH910. And there are a lot of used/new 600D and new M100 around, some DH10P scattered here and there. Heck, even the RH1 (both silver and black) has made it to eBay. Sure, not as many as standard MD units, but enough to not make me panic and buy every Hi-MD unit that I see. eBay is a "revolving door" kind of "store," so what's on the block yesterday could be significantly different from today. Buy-it-now items can be snatched up right away and may not even be seen by the time you log on. It's all about the timing.

If these are the correct specs for that ES305 (check the plug for these numbers), then it should work since it takes variable input (100-240V). AC ADAPTOR AC-ES305 # Rated Input: 100-240V, 50/60Hz, 8VA # Rated Output: 3V, 500mA # Dimensions (Approx.): 2 1/8 x 2 1/2 x 1 1/8 in (w/h/d) # Color: Black

I'm not afraid to say it. If MD is gone, then I'd use my 5G iPod more and probably invest in something by iAudio. Not that I think Hi-MD/MD will be completely outtro, of course, because eBay is still littered with tons of units (although some not in the best shape, but still working). I don't use my MD/Hi-MD units for any live recording right now, so I wouldn't be "hurting" as much as some people who rely on the MD format out in the field.
-
Hope you're using it in your DH10P that has the 2-year warranty. Thanks for being one of the brave, guinea-pig souls.

The person to whom I was saying, "Um, not quite right" made the same (honest) mistake as the person in that T-Board thread - mistaking BetaCAM for BetaMAX. So, I was not questioning their analogy of "Beta" and MD, but rather just pointing out that there are 2 kinds of Beta, as discussed in that T-Board thread. Hope this makes it clearer to you.

You've got to be kidding. Making another RH1 specifically for the USA, where iPods (and other DAPs), PSPs, and music phones run wild? Where it's nearly impossible to find blanks, let alone an MD unit, anywhere (offline) in the nation? You're doing some heavy-duty wishful thinking, my friend. Besides, alrose312 said they are thinking of re-marketing the RH1, not re-making it. What Sony should do is work on the marketing of MD, rather than switch their attention to making a different, special unit for a country that seems to be giving up on the format ever-so-slowly. To think that engineering a "superior US-only unit" would be a good/feasible idea is really quite Amerocentric, in my opinion.
-
Not quite sure if Sony would do that, but if they did, I'm sure the price you'd have to pay wouldn't be worth it. (Just for reference, it costs US$100+ to fix older, MDLP/NetMD units and you can buy a new/working one for below that price.) Maybe you can get a case for your silver NH600D instead since it isn't much to look at and you'll have the RH1 to fulfill your MD-staring needs. Good luck.

A few forum members have purchased those LIP4WM coming from China and haven't had any problems with them ... yet. No one is currently for certain if these China-based LIP4WM are crappy like some of the China-based, fake NiMH gumsticks. Your best bet is to contact those eBay sellers and ask if they ship to Singapore. Good luck.

Ack, I hope not. The name, "Vibe," already belongs to a Pontiac, and boy, is that an UGLY car.
-
Uhh, no offense, but why did you quote me? What I was talking about has nothing to do with MD dying out, but rather the comment about BetaMAX being the same as the BetaCAM being used by TV stations. Please click on linked threads before you quote and reply. Thanks.

Hey, I just got that one, too.

I think the 40ELK's blue is not as bright, too, but I was coming off of that bright turquoise of my 33EL and Sharp remotes. Having that multi-line display is really nice. I also put a PDA screen protector on it. I mainly use the short cord with mine and yeah, it's pretty short, but it's the perfect length for plugging into any of my 4 USB ports. I found the long cord's excess a teeny bit of a hassle/inconvenience.

I'm finding that minidisc blanks (both standard 74/80 min and Hi-MD) are still in stores - Best Buy, some Circuit Cities, Frys Electronics, and some Wal-Marts. What's getting harder to find here are the recorder/downloader units. I've only seen the RH910 at SonyStyle and the cheapy PSYC DN430 downloaders are here and there. (I joined the MD world June 2005 so I'm not sure how much of a change this is to begin with.)
