    Happy Holi

LOL, I doubt they used cannabis in their version of bhang considering they have to get past the VERY strict university and state rules and must be closely monitored with multiple adult/faculty sponsors when providing food to the public and students. I saw them "prepare" the yogurt drink. They basically poured it out of a small soda can and served it in little cups. Instant bhang.
  2. This thread helped me out a lot: what's up with digital amps?

    Happy Holi

I'm not Indian, but Happy Holi, Stuge. The Indian Student Association at my university likes to throw exhibitions of their dancing, clothing, food, and culture for Holi and Diwali (sp?). It's pretty cool and the music is interesting. But, I could never get myself to finish that yogurt drink.
  4. I also forgot to add something in my previous post that MattJ had brought up concerning NH1 vs RH10/910. From my understanding (someone can please correct me), SP playback only is available on the RH10/910, while the NH1 is capable of true SP recording/playback.
  5. For your purposes, which I assumed was making discs and playback only, then yup, I agree the RH910 is a better value for you. But for the person who records a lot of live stuff, the price difference for that OLED dipslay may be well worth it, especially during occasions where decent lighting conditions aren't guaranteed. Glad you like your new NH1!

    HiMD ads!

Google video sounds like a good idea. I'm not sure about posting it in iPod forums (like iLounge) though. Maybe the ad would be received better at forums with a more general audio-fan base. Good thinking and good luck!
  7. Ah, I see. I'm not a big fan of plastic units, but I was thinking of buying the RH10 as a classmate offered it to me brand new and sealed at a really good price ($175). I guess at this point, to me, having the RH10 would be nice, but the RH1 is what I want. I'll have to fight off the MD bug until that RH1 is released (or if I can find someone willing to part with their EH930). Good luck with your new job!
  8. - 4Gen iPod (brother) - Clie NX73 (mom at work) - Sony portable DVD player, can't remember the model (dad; it's not really that portable but he uses it for music at his desk) None of them use minidisc, but my brother is looking at the RH10 for live recordings. Now I just need to show him the RH1.
  9. Matt J: I'm not getting rid of my NH1, but I am interested in getting an RH10 in addition to it. What's making you change your mind about the RH10?
  10. This is high up on the cutesy scale. From your back shot, it looks exactly like my E720 (remote jack, open button, square holes for lanyard?, strip of plastic along the middle, battery door). Ishiyoshi: Great pictorials!
  11. Usually at 15 for both. I tried 19 right now (quiet, night time) and it is pushing a little towards loud for me. Maybe you're not going deaf, but just in need of some serious earwax removal.

    New Hi MD Model?

Indeego: Thank you! From another forum (read post #74 by username eriktous): RH1 from mp3player.de (available June 2006?)

    New Hi MD Model?

Not that it really matters, but Bhangraman's hint was first (Feb 28 vs Mar 6), and I think Damage was trying to show people here the earlier cryptic heads-up that was given on another forum. Indeego: Wow. If that is the real thing, where did you get that pic? The side display reminds me a lot of my oldschool E40 player. Looks like Bhangraman's cryptic hint is slowly unfolding.
  14. Ishiyoshi: Thank you! I've always wondered what they look like when opened.
  15. Minidisco sells these: http://minidisco.com/flip-case-10.html They're plastic and may crack (I'm not sure since I don't have them), but they're kind of cassette-ish.
  16. Wow, that looks like the Audiocubes or JDirect price for the NH1 - their prices are really high for some units. There were quite a few people who got the NH1 for around $250-300 new. I got mine new for $200, but that was luck. If you do a search on this forum, there is a thread that Sony may be coming out with new MD units. So if you're not really into the RH910/10, you could hold off and see what new stuff Sony will be offering. But I'd definitely get the NH1. It's a popular and well-loved one. Hope you get it!
  17. emptyzero: I'm with A440 about the 1GB - $6 to $7 is the average I've seen. I bought my NH1 for $200, brand new and sealed in box, but I was extremely lucky. As for used NH1s, on Ebay they were running about $205-$231 including shipping. I was watching a few auctions as I was thinking of selling mine a few months ago. In addition to here, you can also post a classified on Audio T-Board. There are MD enthusiasts there as well. Good luck!
  18. I think you have to record in real time using the line in of your computer.
  19. theblueraja: Awesome pictorial. It's too bad that Rayz can't access it. If you do re-post and it's not too much trouble, could you please include a pic of the unit with the camera lens? (I'm sure it's on the back of the unit, but I think the camera part was closed in your pic of the backside.) Thanks!
  20. We end in complete agreement.
  21. Do you think iPod people gloated when a lot of those N1 optical heads went bad? Or did they feel any envy or jealousy when SonicStage 3.4 came out? Honestly, I don't think they knew or would even care. So when someone does drop their only portable means of accessing their music, I don't see why you'd feel the need to gloat over MD.
  22. 3.4 just came out so I think the disc that will come with your unit is an older version. And there's a full installer available now thanks to this site. http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=14137 http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=14522 Congrats on your auction win!
  23. That's so cute. Matching N510s. One option is Audiocubes. But, DOH, the prices! http://www.audiocubes.com/index.php?cPath=...1a&filter_id=42. Be the first to review the MD-133 and you get a $5 (haha) discount from them. For the NH1, that's a good price; plus the low 6% Indiana sales tax doesn't hurt, eh? So you could get that NH1 in the hopes that wallet-friendly Hi-MD decks will be more available in the US. But then again, by that time, maybe the 3rd generation Hi-MD portables will be out (wishful thinking). Good luck!
  24. Although a lot of iPod buys were probably driven by what's popular, I think a lot of people now prefer to (or for convenience, have to) carry their entire music collection in 1 unit instead of carrying around discs or having to make them. To each his/her own. I love my iPod (black 60GB 5G, was a gift), but I still love my MD units. With Hi-MD, sure I think it's partly the iPod/iRiver/iWhatever craze, but mainly, I just don't think the word is out as much as we'd like. I've met a lot of people who have never heard of Hi-MD (and one was a former MS702/R900/R500 owner).
  25. streaml1ne: Thanks for the heads up. I'm enjoying these! jonnymac: Try the bit torrents from post #3 of this thread. I got a few of them from there.
