I was walking in the park where I took the "Pics of Japan" that you saw , yesterday ... and there was an older guy walking we crossed paths , and I noticed His headphones and Remote sticking out of his bag ( MD , I said to myself . YAY ) so I asked him, "MD desu ka?" he replied in the affirmative , which resulted in my generosity , of passing a copy of Shadowfax , "Folksongs for a Nuclear Village " recorded on my R50 to him , just to say hi !!!!. ............ He was rather pleased .

Cool little gadget . Thx for posting it . I already have Optical in/out on The macbook pro , but that will surely be handy for older computers and a Lot of Windows laptops -
My young padawan ,...... The Source is with you , and May your MD last for your progeny . My R50 Lasted 10 years of abusive use ( Not physical abusive , just Over usage) Ther are ways of getting a portable if your willing to accept conditions , and many here would help ( including me ) Shipping from other countries can be a little expensive , so that would fall upon you to recprocate or , be able to trust and pay in advance . #1 , Know what you want , what model or Model's , and condition , "Used" has catagories. There is also New , or "New to You " #2 , be Patient and willing to cooperate , The MD community is fairly Tight knit among certain members , who act as Vangaurds of the community . #3 , Partipate in the Board , so that members can know you and would therefore be more willing to assist . That being said .............. I Introduce "Hardoff" http://picasaweb.google.com/strungup66/Hardoff Have a look .

Tokyo isnt to far , Anywhere in this area would be fair game . Plus I can introduce you to some VERY cool places to spend your money while your here !!!!!!!! Let me know.

tell him to bring a portable Flac recorder to you . or Ogg Vorbis . wont happen . There are plenty of graphics and charts on this website if you look around , but my question is .............. why do you need his approval , or why do you need to argue about it . That defeats the purpose of owning it , that purpose being ........... to just use it and be Happy . " May the Source be with you " I am the MD Jedi Master Yoda .

Get 2 , I have the RH1 , it works well with the Mac , Use version 2 of the MD Transfer software . Macbook Pro Core2Duo , And several xternal drives , and an RH1. I have used MD since the very first one . And own so many I dont know where all of them are ( Sock drawer maybe , .... Did I put one the fridge buy accident ????????)

You said Films , so what format do you want them ?????? DVD will be region 2 most likely so you would need an All region DVD player , VHS will be NTSC

I think the digital Radio , comes out as one long Digital signal , it would have to transmit track marks for there to be one , Try copying from a CD Player , and you will see what I mean . There will be track marks in the right places. I record Radio off of my Macbook Pro ( optical out ) to the RH1 , so I can play it in my 930 , when I am out . Just set it at night before I go to bed , in the morning I have a full disc of XM Radio of whatever station I choose . But .........No track marks. There is an Auto track function , which is a "Timed Track" 1 minute , 3 , 10 etc so that at intervals of however many minutes a track will be marked . but it is useless for the radio . What I do , is while I am listening to the program put the tracks in on the go , with the RH1 if I need marks

The new Micro track , Extended gain , and .....YES , ANALOUGE Limiter , on Input . Will I buy it , Not sure , I think I will hold out for the Sony PCM-D50 but from their page.... Advanced Operation MicroTrack II gives you even more professional recording options than ever before. Capture high-SPL sources without clipping thanks to an extended input gain range and built-in analog input limiter. Transfer files faster than ever before via the high-speed USB 2.0 connection. Drop in markers while recording BWF files and easily find your place when editing your content. Easily organize and locate your files in the field with a user-created folder structure. Overcome the limitations of the FAT32 protocol and create seamless recordings beyond 2GB in size. Dim the backlight to save battery life and be discreet in a dark room. Let the recorder hibernate, then wake it up to record on a moment’s notice. With all these enhancements and more, MicroTrack II takes your mobile recording experience to the next stage. High-Fidelity Recording on the Go At about the size and weight of a deck of cards, MicroTrack II will go anywhere you need to record. But don’t let its small size fool you—this rugged device is in the same class as our critically acclaimed audio interfaces. Pro-quality preamps complete with full 48V phantom power will work with your favorite condenser microphones virtually anywhere you need to capture audio—all the way up to 24-bit/96kHz. (Upped the power to 48 , and cleaned up the mic pre's ) Power to Go MicroTrack II is powered via a long-life lithium-ion battery. You can record for approximately four to five hours on a single charge (or about three hours with phantom power engaged). You can also use an optional USB battery pack for additional hours of top-quality recording—there are many inexpensive options available at your local consumer electronics retailer. Recharge the battery by simply connecting MicroTrack II to a PC or Mac via USB, or using the included power supply. (make specific mention , that USB Battery packs will work ) new features and enhancements including: extended input gain range analog input limiter with bypass ------>( Limiter on the input , not at recording stage) 48V phantom power faster data transfer rate via USB 2.0 easily add markers to BWF files monitor S/PDIF input via headphones while recording seamless recording of files greater than 2GB------------> ( Bypassed the 2 Gig file limit , by using a format other than Fat32) customizable folders for organizing files ----------> ( Nested Folders anyone???) built-in CompactFlash speed test ---------------> (WOW , this one is good , test the card in the unit , it tells you what to expect) backlight dimmer ---------> ( Switch on the side , not in the Menu , very cool ) hibernation mode ------------> Instead of waiting for reboot , or Boot Up , , ,,,,, You running at a button push What does this signify , ........ Well , it very much confirms the direction of tech in the Audio field . If MD does not implement some changes , it will be dead as far as the recording aspect goes . Flash based market is growing and getting better quickly . Zoom H4 Zoom breaks ground with the H2 ( not of the best quality , but of brilliant design) Fostex FR2 LE Marantz PMD660 Sony PCM-D1 Sony PCM-D50 Microtrack 24/96 Microtrack Mark2 Korg MR1 And a Growing list of shirtpocket PCM capable recorders From the Business sector The Paradigm Shift is now in Full swing ........ What will it mean when the dust has settled. There will be a thousand more products to come , this is just starting , we are actually watching another Audio revolution . From Tape to Dat , Dat to MD , MD to Computer chip , .............. Dat still exists , but not many Use it , Tape still exists , but not many Use it , MD will exist , and we will be that Niche group . But the shift away from the Tangible ......... Has begun .

If you recorded them Optical , yeah , it is a "no go " but if you record Analouge , they will upload fine.

Onkyo wil continue MD for awhile in the Bookshelf system format , Panasonic, Kenwood, Victor will have portables, Sharp, would probably be the best out of that group , Victor the worst ( Do NOT buy a Victor portable if you own a lot of Sony recorded MD's ) The Onkyo Bookshelf systems though , sound amazing for their size , I have listen to all of them , and will eventually get the Onkyo.

in the menu , try and find "Resume" Most of my MD's will start where I stopped , as long as I dont take the disc out , but I have two that will remember the disc .

So I came in , he was tripping out , practically dragging me to the audio section , asked me to sit down and play my guitar , with my eyes closed ..( I am thinking , ok last lesson for this guy .......) any way I did . Then he ( with the MD hiddden behind him) hits play , and out of a Pair of 1500 dollar Theater Speakers , comes my guitar , ....with no noise. From the first , I was there when it began . MZ1 ...
