If you have a signal difference one one side then something is wrong somewhere , The mics the you KNOW will give equal response are the ones to use , you can always add a slight amount of highs in post proccessing as long as you are judicious , Some freqs are more noticable than others

Go to Sony supprot site and look for the 40 ELK 's compatability list , it doesnt work with all MD's

first off , Mic sens High , at 113 spl , is bad , the Hi sens on the RH1 is good enough to pick up mouse farts ok. depending on the mic in question. au contrare , push the scroll wheel in and hold it for a couple , changes the scrolling The 40 is the best thing to happen to the RH1 , Rec Level control on the scroll wheel in record mode , much smoother than the side control on the RH1 itself . Not only that but you Have rec level meters on the display of the 40 . I have it and I Use it .

My Empathy Raj , this is the only area where I can say iTunes has it down pat. I have changed hardrives several times reinstalled the OS , and EVERYthing , open iTunes get it set up to NOT add files to the iTunes folder when importing , then go to the iTunes foldr on the external drive , Drag it to iTunes and it imports everything , EVERYTHING , organizes reloads the artwork and everything.Without filling the folder on the computer, Beautifull then I hit Front Row , with my remote control , and I am watching Podasts and Movies.

Any chance of you starting A TV /Radio Station after the crappyright issues are settled??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

And you make my point for me , on a Forum you get to see a LOT more of the person than you do on eBay , on the forums they interact based not on the Idea of a sale but on common interests, therefore You can gain a little more insight into WHO your dealing with , I didnt say I have NOT done eBay , I have , and have had both good and Bad experiences,The Board Members of this Forum have policies of Feedback for purchases and sales as well , so that you can check on who you dealing with . Furthermore the people on the forum are more likely to be people who take very good care of their stuff , and are selling it out of need , and the condition of the item is MUCH more likely to be acceptable , whereas most people ( not all) probaly half anyway are on eBay to make money , their sole concern , it is the turnaround , and the game of buy and sell . The forum is not Immune to fault , so dont take me wrong . but I would rather buy something from someone I have been conversing with for three months , than someone whom I have no idea who they are .

When I have MD Transfer window open , I just drag MP'3 , or Wav files right into the window and hit transfer ....done. As long as the files are 16 bit , not 24 , the bitrate doesnt matter ( soundquality might , but that is to the judgement of the individual) update , I just hooked up the RH1 , and did not open MD transfer so that the RH1 showed as a disc on the desktop Dragged two mp3's to the icon and the are writing as I type , ok , I "eject " the disc and , ..... it says "No Track " , so I hook it back up. Open the Disc image , ahhhh I see a Executable , and a Folder , the folder says HiMD HiFI , lets drag the two files into the folder . Eject ,.........again "No Track " so the MP3 files or whatever HAVE to go thru MD transfer to be recognized , but it is actually LESS time dragging to the MD window than to the Icon , dragging to the Icon was like writing to an OLD USB1.0 MO Drive. Going thru MD transfer is pretty quick

It looks like the True SP and the CD are head to head at 18khz , whitch is the basic limit of normal human hearing . The rest drop off substantially well below that freq , Which is another vote for the MZ-R50 which only recorded in SP and did so very well . Everything I have done in SP mode on older decks sounds as good if not better than any of the newer decks I have used. At least the stuff from the R50 . I can hear the difference in the OUTPUT of the RH1 , the amp is nice , very broad in dynamics , but for recording R50 at SP , RH1 at PCM The RH1 gets just a Little more Headroom , but you have to listen very closely for it, and with Good phones. I also have a Digital Amp and Reference quality speakers , again My R50 line out is solid and detailed . I have No probs with SP whatsoever , and practically NEVER erase a Disc once it has been recorded properly ( might explain the size of my collection) LP2 -LP4 I reserve for Daytrip discs, bacpacking , or train rides, Or when recording Conventions and spoken word , lectures etc. , But for Collecting and archiving music SP mode almost exclusively . It will then play on ANY player , and be better than anything an mp3 player will ever produce.

Get the RH1 and MD Transfer 2.0 since you have a Mac I am on a Macbook Pro core2duo 2.3 ghz ,and a Macbook 1rst gen core duo 2ghz Drag and drop , you got it .
