my internet connection, 48k :angry::(:wacko:

48K you lucky swine! I put up with 24 Kbps for about 3 years. Doesn't even support compression at that bitrate.:angry::angry::angry::angry::angry:

Anyway, I have broadband now! Can't do a lot with a 1 GB download/upload limit though :( . Tried to convince my parents that 1 GB just wasn't enough, not for a whole month anyway.

Ah, I feel better now :D

This so called bold type face or CAPITAL type "rule" - being considered as a theoretical subject

( but not practical application with physical side effects of loud shouting ) , reminds me of a story

when daughter was watching her mom placing turkey into the (?)turkey pot - or what ever it is called,

...and that pot goes into the oven, and just before putting into the oven mom cut off top part of the turkey breast,

and surprised daughter ask her Why she did that, and mom said -

I don't really know - but my mom did it - I learned from Her,

So daughter went and asked her grand Ma - grandMa said -

I don't know - my Mom did that, I learned from Her,

so daughter went and asked Gradn Gran Ma - and same ansver,

so finally daughter went to 3xGradn Ma - and asked Her -

and She answered - Ohhh, my child ,

We had small pot and the turkey did not fit it -

so I had to cut off the topof the turkey breast

so I can close the lid.

And I think many things are done and reproduced by many of Us -

because someone just said so.

============================================

In some long past in english language word "lady" was used to describe

women who were employed at the Kings/Queens palace in the bakery shop ( palaces had hundreds of people living there) -

and at that bakers shop there were women who did nothing else all day but just were knitting bread dough,

and the baker was placing it in to the oven, women were only doing

one thing all day, knitting the dough, woman who did this dough knitting job , she was called, ..... lady.

Lady was like an job description.

And look today how this word changed, it changed some time ago ,

but You see the change in application.

Another one [and this one is bit heavy if You like] -

it is from the triple X file:

It has to do with mind programming

In the long past English doctors and royalty and common people

used word ( f * * k ) to describe totally proper behavior such as intercourse.

That word (f * * k) was totaly, i mean totally proper medical and social word to be used in public, and was used in the same way as today

We use word "intercourse" or ....lady, or Hi-MD, ...but some how someone said

that word f**k is a bad BAD swear word .... and now We have it.

Why and how they come to this conclussion it is a mystery.

Would be interesting to find out if from the beginning of beginnings

some words were destine to be "bad" words and other "good" words

So I'm just watching how many times We as humanity are being molded

into molds /rules\ that are strange, ilLogical, silly, dangerous,

enslaving, questionable, etc., etc., ......

Just being watchful - that's ALL :)

Yeah, that pisses me off. What annoys me is these rappers calling themselves the n-word all the time. I think, originally, the n-word was used to describe people who come from Nigeria. But now, it's become a swear word. Anyway, I don't find any so-called swear-words offensive because I take the context of a sentence rather than any stupid words. And guess what's more stupid than swear words? People that get offended by them and ask for them to be removed from radio, television, CDs, mass media etc. Get a fuckin' life.

Ah, I feel much better now :D

Yeh, it is bit almost hypocritical

that black-african americans can use the "n" word to call them self's , ....but when others are using it is not politically correct.

I don't get it.

If african-american people said, nobody should use this word, ...then I agree, but in this double usage case it is bit ridicules.

Especially that source of that "N" word is from the name of a particular country.

But to respect their concerns I do not use it, but raise my eye brows when i hear them self's using it.

Get a fuckin' life.

Yes, this is right. :)

Or to be more proper and polite & no to upset some people:

Get a intercourse-ing life. :)

You're a bit of on your etymology. It stems from the Latin word for black, i.e. 'niger' (or from the Spanish 'negro', or French 'nègre', all meaning the same). http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=nigger

Nigeria stems from Niger-area, the area around the river Niger, which itself probably also stems from the Latin word 'niger'.

Yeah, perhaps I should have done a bit of research first before posting those insane rantings.:P

GOD DAMN, that REALLY sucks, excuse the shouting but it does. Damn i feel for you dude. What are you going to do? Just buy another one or stick with the one you had? How many mb graphics card was it?

Oh yeah, a pet peeve of mine is when i burn a dvd and i dont get any error messages but when i watch it a few weeks later and see I have a few dodgy frames! GRR or when my dvd burner hangs when im writing a dvd at too high a speed. Just recently i had to reformat my computer and its been giving me crap when I set it to stand by or hibernate. :( When i go to turn it on later, nothing happes, no windows logo, no boot menu, nothing.

I'm pissed off because my MZ-NH900 got stolen.

I had taken it back to the store, to get it repaired, again (the infamous malfunctioning stop-button; see this topic). I received an email yesterday that there has been a burglary earlier this week and their entire stock got taken, including my NH900.

Firstly, I'm pissed just because of the fact that it's gone.

Secondly, I'm pissed because they took so long to get it repaired. I had returned it on January 13th, and hadn't heard anything until February 21st, when I received an email saying that it had arrived at their distribution center and they would further process it from there (i.e. send it to Sony repair centre, I guess). And now this last email, from which I conclude that Sony had returned it to them, but they hadn't notified me yet that I could pick it up (what are the odds on this burglary just happening at this moment; if they would've just phoned me immediately to say it was back, I would have gone and picked it up the same day...)

Thirdly, I'm pissed because this means the search for a new unit will have to start again (luckily I will get a full refund). It took me a long time last year to decide on the NH900, and even longer to find one for a reasonable price in a shop nearby.

Now I will have to face all those questions again: do I really need legacy recording modes? Can I accept the crappier non-LCD remotes that come with the 2nd gen. units? What unit looks the best? How much money am I willing to spend? Do I really trust that webshop that sells for an incredibly low price, or do I pay an arm and a leg at a brick and mortar store, just to be able to easily return it for repairs or something? Do I wait a couple of weeks/months, to see if Sony announces any third generation Hi-MD units?

Well, I'm done ranting for now and will start searching the web again, for the best available deals.

(As you can see from this lengthy post, I don't have much experience with things getting stolen from me. It infuriates me. I actually can't remember ever having anything stolen, not even my bike, which is pretty unique, considering I live in the Netherlands.)

Atrain, I work for a really big ISP, and I must say, that if you REALLY wanted a new one try this: (this is mostly a rant at people that do this to me)

Yell loudly at the first person you see at the store who sold you the article. Apologize after cursing their company that you know it is not their fault and ask to speak to the manager, until you are blue in the face. It happens all the time to me, I just want to distribute some of my anguish from time to time.
