smkranz
The Man Who Loved Women (L'Homme Qui Aimait les Femmes) (1977)[in French with English subtitles]Watched this last night because:The family is away and I was bored. It is one of this month's free "On Demand" offerings from my cable company.I was really bored. There were some amusing moments, but overall this thing is a steaming pile of Dreck. The NY Times includes this film in their list of 1,000 best movies, but that's a joke. Maybe it's included out of some misplaced sympathy for the French, or something, but the NYT list is so lame, it doesn't even include O Brother, Where Art Thou, or Spiderman , or...oops, yes it does include Star Trek - The Wrath of Kahn...my bad. Still, the list, and this movie, are for the birds.http://movies2.nytimes.com/gst/movies/movie.html?v_id=78895

Richard
I must say I haven't had too much time for films lately, but I did manage to see Superman Returns at the cinema last weekend which I thought was not too bad at all and "La Haine" on the Ultimate Edition DVD that I picked up a few weeks ago. I hadn't see this one for ages (perhaps not since it first came out) and it certinaly hasn't lost any of it's impact.

atrain
i just watched jerry maguire on cable. i have a love/hate for cameron crowe, he writes a decent story but his dialogue is so clunky & overwrought. compared to 'singles' JM is a light fare but, imo, better for it. burns3016
Two movies I have recently seen & recommend are:PRIMER: an independent film about two young businessmen who stumble acrossan invention that allows them travel in time. The premise sounds a little silly, BUT, the subject matter is taken very seriously, and it is because of this that it ends up being a better than average film. The story, very wisely, focuses on the pyscological effects the invention has on the two men, and because of this it ends up being an extremely entertaining film. HIGHLY recommended ! 16 YEARS OF ALCOHOL: (winner of several independent film awards ..... forget which ones). Follows the life of a young man growing up in the UK surrounded by family that drink, argue and drink ! It shows how a chance meeting can change a persons life, for better or for worse. HIGHLY recommended ! My brother was watching that the other day?I've never heard of it btw, he wouldn't answer what its about! Can I ask you? lol & Is it any good?Firewall starring Harrison Ford is a well made thriller. It is enjoyable, watchable & entertaining. However, it offers nothing unique. I would give it 3 out of a possible 5 stars. Recommended ? Yes.

doclloyd
Casino RoyalI just saw this last night! The movie was actually quite amazing. Plot was strong, great action scenes, some high-tech (and all Sony - but no MD) gadgets, hot women. Highly recommended. Well done, one of the best (of the few) I've seen in the Bond series.
