Some shops used to sell adapter cables, if you could find both ends of the plug (male into Micra, female into Sony), and knowong what pin goes where you could make one, or else, just splice the ony wilres into the Micra harness, it shouldn;t be too hard to figure out what wires do what purpose. The mini disc they are talking about are the abrasive discs that go into the unit for cleaning, grinding, and polishing. I don't think there is much use for it in our realm. Bob

If you are content to record straight time, and don not want the digital upload capabilities of the RH1, any Hi-MD with a line/optical in will do you, but then you are missing out on a lot of the advantages of MD. With the RH1 and Mac software, you can download at faster than real time, just not sure of the FLAC or Apple files. Happy hunting Bob

The only one Mac compatible is thr RH1 or the M series, don't know of any non-Hi-MD that are Mac compatible, unless straight time, as to FLAC or Apple maybe someone else has tried?Good Luck Bob

Ultimately it boils down to taste, the only way to truly answer the question is a double blind in very controlled circumstances, in the real world if you think it's going to sound like crap, it will, and vice versa. An ipod with lossless will likely sound better than an N707 on LP4. Has anyone here put the same material in the same bitrate on lets say an RH1 and a touch or 8 gb ipod and the same phones? Personally I can't be bothered, to me what the pod excels at is mass storage, MD wins face down for execution. They are two very different boats doing two different things. Bob

I think it's time this board went to a grading and limiting system for new posts. There are at least three on the forum right now that have absolutely nothing to do with MD, or with anything pertaining to what goes on on the board. Or atleast have one subsection that only newbies can post to. Some people are truly interested in MD and would quickly be allowed full access. Maybe something as simple as filling in what equipment they have, or want, no equipment, no access Bob

If you are using Mac, your only choice is the RH1 or M200, they come with a Li ion battery, but you can get an external pack or plug it in while you record. Good luck Bob

really beg to differ, I've got an 80 GB ipod, and several MD's, I prefer the md's any day, spend more time looking for music on the pod, simple disc change on the MD, plus most AFAIK mp3 players don't have remotes, so you have to take them out of pocket etc, and refine your choice, if the guy wants MD, help him out, if you don't like it, well!!!
