Just because Sony Made the minidisc, that doesn't mean Sharp can't make it too! anywho, on topic, the more programs the better! i wonder if SS2.2 proofed this program as well as hiMDrenderer. edit: umm i withdraw my statements. why? #1: i just told off a Mod (a new one at that didn't recognize him) #2: the program is an analog recording type but i gotta say, that technique is pretty unique! edt2: welcome to the forums!

but a good question is, would there be DRM on it?
-
my main use for it is music playback, but i wouldn't mind recording meetings / shows / sounds for music composition. Im going to wait till next year and see what the new products bring. I bought the 600 this year.

you ought to add a choice: keep using atrac3 yet have WMP10 recognize it. Realplayer recognizes the regular MD. besides, i dont think Apple would like such a move, since the CEO of sony was just recently talking to steve jobs about integrating Apple's music player and online music store.

can you get the rebate if you purchased you hi-md before september 1st? oooh, i'd better be able to.
-
the sony store told me that they will arrive in OCTOBER. im thinking.. umm no. that can't be.
-
im going to check the sony store today in winnipeg, manitoba, canada. i'll get back to ya when i get back!

sony will be releasing such a program this fall. to convert the minidisc files to *.wav, you must first UPLOAD the file (through SS, which freezes the MD drive), then once its on your computer you may unplug your MD if you wish. then you can use a program (or update from sony to SS) to export the file to a *.wav.

speaking of very loud... i hook my MD up to my speakers, and for SOME REASON, the beeps are at least twice as loud. nice low classical, the BEEEP BEEEP BEEEP!!!! makes me jump out of my skin. same for that alarm.. god that loud on speakers.

OMG THAT WAS SOOO FUNNY! i loved the drop test the most! even though you need a cassette player, im pretty sure that that page was just for fun, and i laughed. so that page is very good in my ranks. heres the link from minidisc.org http://homepage.mac.com/danielturek/PhotoAlbum50.html

and a retarted tune too. like those old melody cell phones that could only play one note at a time. what a way to alert you, nice song, then BAM! ("WTH is THAT?!?!" Has anyone figured out what that tune is? (im talking about the 910 model)(hacked 510)

The_Stamp replied to Christopher's topic in Minidisc
nope, you gotta do it in real time. sucks dont it? -
actually, you cant even copy it to a different computer. stupid drm.
-
he got the NW-HD1. thats the hard drive model.
-
you know, why an't sony enable native mp3 playback for the 600? it can't do field recording, which nixes the recorder aspect of the copyright issues.

MZ-NH1 vs iPod Mini review is finally up on Head-Fi.
The_Stamp replied to bhangraman's topic in Minidisc
i ought to backup my music because i gotta reformat. i have about 3 gigs of atrac music + 6 gigs of mp3's. dont want all that encoding time watsed. -
more so, how much will it cost? like, it can't be more that 200 american.
-
why didn't you just add your post to that one? Like, is this post dedicated to pointing out another thread?
-
hi-mds can record std-MD's in 2 modes: hi-md and st-MD mode. you cannot have both modes on the same disc, but you can reformat (losing data) the disc to and from each format as much as you like. std-MD mode acts like and can be read by ANY old MD player/recorder, Hi-MD mode can only be read by hi-md players/recorders. and forget about hhi-md media. totally new technology that your std-MD player wont know what to do with it. it'll just read "HI-MD" and thats all.
-
oh shoot, thats right, sorry :S you can DOWNLOAD LP2/LP4, just not recording. MY BAD. yikes.
-
a bit more clarity on MAT's response.. you CAN upload ANYTHING (not sure about PCM) that was recorded in HI-MD mode (which inclued LP2/LP4 recorded in hi-md mode). there just isn't a way to export it from ss2 (currently).
