Are these models that are not available outside of Russia?

Yes, you can choose the language display within the menu to switch from Japanese to English. For an online shop you can try Japan-direct.com or try the ebay seller "buy from Japan". I've done 3 purchases via J-d.com when I was stateside and was always pleased. I've not dealt with "bfj" but others on this forum have and always had good things to say about it.

From page 13 of the RH10 user's manual: "How to use the supplied clamp filters When using the recorder connected to the computer, make sure to attach the clamp filters in the way described. (You must attach a clamp filter to comply with the applicable EMC standards.) It is unnecessary to attach the clamp filters if you use the unit without connecting it to the computer."

about 20 hi-md discs. Just found a store today that sells the original version in 3-packs with md covers, not the cassette type covers. A couple hundred legacy md discs.

Then there are those of us who don't think it is real...just a superstition people practice. There isn't tangible evidence that it exists except for subjective listening. On the other hand, there isn't tangible evidence that people who say it is necessary are wrong. You need to try it out for yourself. Of course to take away the factor of "becoming accustomed to the sound" you should start with two pair of the same 'phones; one to burn-in and the other as your control group to compare with the burned-in set.

Perhaps you are thinking of RealPlayer which was in partnership with Sony for a few years, it ended in 2003 or '04. I'm curious if the flashplayers will work with RP as you can still get the device drivers for the Sony Walkman line from RP.

I can give you a partial answer to #1 regarding the rh10. The front of the unit is metal; the backside of the unit is plastic. There is a plastic plate on the front of the unit so you can see the screen but the plastic piece sits atop a metal shell.

I use it to title hi-md discs and for uploading field recordings I've made. I haven't had a problem with it at all for the ten weeks I've been using it. I keep my music library recorded in RealPlayer format as it was an easier program to use when SS1.5 was current and I lived on the same continent as my cd collection. I'm looking forward to changing my library over SS when I'm home next and have some time.

like Lamewing said, the dr77 is not a netmd recorder. In case the e-bay seller misnamed the item, the way to tell if you have the dr77 non-netmd unit or the dr80 netmd unit is easy...the dr77 has an lcd screen on the unit and the dr80 has no screen on the unit.

look on the right hand side for the link "my controls" and click it. At the next page look on the left hand side for "edit signature" and click it. It is here that you will enter what you want to have show up as your signature when you post.

good going TDK. This is their third release of discs in less than a year; July 2005 they released the LE flower mix, in August '05 they released Clef, and in March '06 these will be released.

Glad to hear the news, Zappa. Good for you for putting in the time and effort to go up the ladder and talk to someone involved with your repair.

yes, the 25/30 isn't necessarily an exact figure you need to be at. Start it off at full-graph and nudge down bit by bit. If you don't notice any difference in the sound quality between full-graph and 5/6 then you needn't worry about exactness.

I find this link easier to read the rules of Chuck Norris than the Fark thread...

Cool and dry for the past month...highs around 45f/7c with lows at 32f/0c. Only one afternoon with rain in the past month which still impresses me as I'm from western Oregon.

Neither the 70 nor 50 has a line out mode. I dont know of any player-only units offered, between 2001 and 2006, that do. From what I've read, you can turn off all EQ settings and pump the volume up to 25/30 to make a comparable signal out.

she just did a live interview and performance on sounds eclectic at soundseclectic. Nothing to trade, just to let you know... [edit] It was the January 8th, 2006 show.

I use hi-md discs for hi-md and keep my legacy md's as legacy format since I have a legacy deck.

A desktop HP from 1992-1997, two Toshiba Satellites since then. I'm interested in three things for the computer to perform; word processing, internet access, and music management. As I've never had problems with Windows, I'm stickin' with it.

That sounds like an invitation for some NSA jokes... According to two different sources, one I've linked 'cause I could find it, the 4-pole has to do with 1) saving energy and 2) presenting a cleaner stereo signal; less bleeding of signal between left and right channel. At home I'll listen to auvi units with 66eggos and I find it just as satisfying as using 4-poles but 66's are a great 'phone so I'm not surprised. Perhaps the difference would be more noticeable with lower-end 'phones.

there wasn't any mention last year either. A few days after the event what we got was a picture taken of units on display without any mention of the inclusion of oled in the top-line recorder. I'll wait to hear from Kurisu...

Yep, right you are Richyhu, the atrac 3+ bitrates are for cd and the md bitrates are sp, lp2, and lp4.

To format, using SS 3.3, plug the usb connection into the player then open up SS; wait a few seconds for SS to recognize the unit. Click "transfer" and select "hi-md"; what is on the disc will be displayed in the window below. Look on the bottom of that window and you will see "device/media info", click it. A small window will open and click "initialize".

Mainly listening but what I am listening to has been recorded via line-in. I've tried the data storage but it seems redundant as I have a couple of usb-key fobs and an external hd.

the button doesn't work in his link but if you link from the original post you can get to the same place; skip the intro and on the main page look in the middle where it says "save" then watch the demo in the top of the window.
