  2. Well, coincidently today my NH900 made me angry and I wanted to throw it. I was listening a long recording and all of the sudden it skipped to the next track, I pushed the stop button but it skipped to the next track again and again so I pulled off the battery to stop it. A moment later I was listening another long recording and Ive locked the player buttons but Ive forgotten it so I started to operate it, I pushed pause and the display started to blink without affecting the play back, the stop button didnt work just filled the disc icon. I entered to the menu to activate the beep then I realized that the hold switch was set... wtf! These 1st-gen bugs really pissed me off (All of this without considering the poor battery perfomance that Ive experienced). Right now Im thinking to sell the NH900 and get another HiMD device.
  3. The movie: Femme fatale (2002), starring Rebecca Romijn and Antonio Banderas. Banderas is holding a R91
  4. yeah, I would pay to see his expression.
  5. Thanks for your concern. He wasnt in dodgy area or anything but it was about 7pm, according to what he told me when he took a bus to come back home a sitting man stared at him, my brother didnt pay much of attention because he though that the man was looking the remote clipped on the shirt. When my brother stepped out the bus it looks like the man (thief) followed him but he didnt realize it because he was distracted with the music so few seconds after the thief cathed him and threatened him, then my brother gave up the poor Sharp and that damn weasel ran off (I wish who has it right now, break it ). Well my brother is fine, the only thing hurted is his pride.
  6. THE THIEVES ... one of those f@#*$ assaulted my younger brother Thursday afternoon and took away his (formely mine) DS70, but he told me about it just now because he didnt know how to tell me. Well, I was angry but at the same time relief that my brother is ok, after all it was just piece of hardware... a beautiful, fragil, soft, stylish and unique piece of hardware
  7. Huh?... what kind of headphones did you use to test it? what bitrate did you play? what sound setting did you use? For me, it's impossible to think in such statement. My NF610 sounds good but not that good as my HD5, besides the latter plays back high bitrates. Well that's just my opinion.
  8. ciao, I think all sony models from 2002 have that signal processor. check this out: http://www.minidisc.org/part_Recorders_Sony.html

Congratulations! very nice machine, but I think it would be better with a manual gear box. Anyway, now you need one of these: Sony NVX-Z555
  10. You cant hear any noise at all from the hard drive, unless you are in a very quite place. When you grab the HD5 and operate it you can feel its drive working. Well if you end up buying the HD5, I recommend you to look for the Sony RM-MC40ELK remote control, it is the best accessory for HD5 as well as for the HiMD players.
  11. About sound quality, it's difficult to say which is better. The HD5 has Digital Sound Preset but some HiMD players have a HD amp, so from my experience I can say for sure that both delivery excellent sound. About the built quality, I can say that my HD5 is better because its body is metallic unlike the NH900 with plastic in the back which is getting colorless on the corners.
  12. Download this catalog http://www.ecat.sony.co.jp/products/catalog/SYS_sou.pdf and see what lucky the Japaneses are
  13. I dont know if I missed something, but what about this one:
  14. The key factor between these two is: battery life, the longer the better.
  15. wow, that's for a player only... I dont even want to think about the PS3 launch price
  16. Well some of my family members have digital portables, all of them because of me: I gave the Sony NF610 and the Sharp DS70 to my brothers, they love them. I made my sister to buy a Panasonic SL-SV550 (cd/mp3/radio player) and a SD 512MB memory for her Palm so she can carry her music on the pda as well. One of my cousin wanted a mp3 player and at that time there was a good offer for a mini iPod (the HD3 was more expensive and complicated for her) so we bought it, actually she did it . The last year, I gave as a present a Panasonic SL-SV550 to another cousin on her birthday. I think that has been my influence so far.

  19. you could say that. A couple of days ago I was ready to order an EH1 from Audiocubes but it looks like they had gone... it was too late, damn
  20. I introduce you: my brand new TIME MACHINE [attachmentid=1337] it's an adsl usb modem... now I can see in a blink the big pics
  21. well my experience wasnt that good. I bought a couple of GP prismatic (1400mAh) batteries plus charger for my NH900. I dont know whether it has to do with some sort of memory effect or something else but those batteries at HiMD mode achieve a poor performance almost the same battery life stated in the user manual for the Sony NH-10WM, however when I tried it with the Sharp prismatic (1400mAh) that came with the DS70 the battery life improves about two hours. Perhaps with the Sony NH-14WM the performance achieves better results, what has to be proved. On the other hand the battery performance at MD mode is quite good, not that good as the E10 (which has the most reliable battery life) or the DS70, but I dont complaint. What I really admit is one of those things that pushed me to the DAP realm was the poor battery life and load times of the NH900 at HiMD, I dont know... but one thing is for sure, now I dream of a MZ-EH1
  22. are there any news about the Sony NAS-M7HD?
  23. Just this one: [attachmentid=1294] but a new himd only player is floating in the air... am I greedy? *slap myself*
  24. I read about this new technology in a tech magazine (I think it was Popular Mechanic) sometime early in the 90's. There was an article about some sort of war between a digital cassette againts optical disc, I didnt pay much of the attention though. Next time I've ever seen a minidisc was in the movie "Last Action Hero", it was cool to see a gadget like that but I said that is one of those things that never will come to my country. The next time was (by the middle of the 90's) in a music store where there were prerecorded minidiscs of Michael Jackson and Maraih Carey among few others, once again I didnt pay much of the attention because I was very happy with my tapes and a couple of cds, I remember they were way expensive than their cd counterparts. But the first real encounter with a minidisc device was when I visited a friend whose father is an electrical technician and he had some amazing electronic devices; like an optical disc player, you know, the big ones like a vinyl but optical; an electronic microscope; a dual tape deck with optical output among other stuffs he had a minidisc deck and in that very moment he was recording a minidisc from a cd, he began to talk to me how he plugged one end of fiber optic cable to the back of the cd deck and the other end to the md deck and how he entered the song names with the remote however it seemed very complicated and it was out of my league. The next time was (2004) when a friend who has a md car player told me that his cousin just brought from US a minidisc walkman (mz-r700) which can record from the computer through the usb port, that was what rang the bell to switch myself to the format. No more low quality audio (tapes) and no more bulky portable players (cds), once made into MD there's no return.
