i think that assuming the us's stated free market goals are bad for american business is a joke to anyone on the other end of a us free trade agreement. ever seen a phamceutical companies profits? here in australia we have a protected & subsidised medical system like canada's. one of the major goals of us side of the fta is to dismantle it, something even the very pro-us govt is affraid to do. i'm sorry aeriyn about your sitch but that's the way us style me, me, me economics works - chase the dollar for profit & maybe social responsibilities will take care of themselves.

on the other hand instead of making crappy software they bought out a dedicated creator in steinberg. have to say i'm quite impressed with sony spinning off it's software writing for md/nw to the connect company. lets hope that a perspective from outside the corprate bunker provides more intuitive software, eh?

xvid/divx should stream without any need for buffering breaks. 1.1 is still pretty fast in the realtime scheme of things

all brands of netmd & future himd use the same sony developed system. this is best demonstrated by the software being the same, ie. beatjam is just a skinned sonicstage 1.5 & all brand work fine with sonicstage 2.x with the correct drivers installed. unless sony comes out with mac support then it wont happen with anyone else.

just hd1. they're going to continue to sell the hd1 here for a while & all new units sold come with the firmware allready installed. the hd2 wont come to australia & the hd3 will be 6-12 months. tbh i didn't think of himd at the time.
