... so many pairs of otherwise acceptable headphones just don't match the iPod's look and feel quite right. Glaringly absent from the iPod accessory arsenal has been a really good set of matching earphones at the lower end of the price spectrum... the main reason i take reviews there with a grain of salt. i myself wouldn't hesitate to use something that is fundamentally better even if it didn't match my player. maybe that's just me.

legitimate copy, illegitimite usage, luckily your friend will do all the work for you, right?
-
i'm not thinking i'd listen all the time, i like text although i'd d/l a few for fun. would you be doing the voice acting?

releases from reputable* sites & groups often include front, back & disc pics in the rar with the .nfo - never embedded in the audio afaik however. sure you weren't connected to the internet? cddb is pretty background on my ss3.0 *for illegal filesharing of course

some newer cds have album art as part of the CDDB authentification. itunes does it for some albums too. if you like the look - & i do just search amazon for any of the library that dont do it & steal thumbnails... whooo shiny library

for md stuff i like www.bluetin.com & www.minidsic.com.au or of course ebay. i buy clothes, shoes, specialty food, books, records, my last two laptops, two md players & probably some other crap online over the last few years. that said i'd step away from audiocubes if they play games like that, debiting the acct without having stock is a loser move in my book.

try ebay for a replacement 2nd hand or cheap new unit. repairing a fairly elderly unit is not cost effective. put it up on blocks in the front yard or something...

people could just learn to use the search or google search function too. <rant> i often think that many msg board users [not just here] have become used to mods & helpful types answering their questions when two minutes with google or an internal search engine would answer any question plus more. search facilities are your friends. </rant>

i'm afraid that model does not support net/himd protocol. you are limited to recording in real time from a stereo or line out of a computer.

upgrade because all the staff here are helping you out of simple evangelical goodness. upgrading to the latest spec. will rule out a no. of issues therefore making our lives easier. if you don't wish to do it, then don't.

in australia & asia we have the 600 with the line in & optical, no remote port. there is an excellent pic here courtesy of minidisc.com.au http://www.minidisc.com.au/images/sony_mznh600_silver.jpg

'vanilla' digital amp as has been stated before, is primarily for reducing power consumption, therefore extending battery life. the HD [high definition] is intended to offer a better 'quality' of sound. i'd second nis' opinion, amp type is way down my list of make or break features

works fine for me i d/led it yesterday while this thread was still on page one. uses a little more ram but feels 'better' than 2.3. more of an evolutionary than revolutionary change but the right direction? i'm convinced.

i could host if you like, email me.

i don't think the hd3 has an oled.

just a heads up kurisu, mods the financial contribs image under other user's names is still a broken link for me. don't know if this is a known bug or not. adrian

5-10% needs to cater to other markets. 80+% doesn't need to cater to niche or boutique users. apple needed to have ipods working on pcs or there would have been a fraction of the market for the white tings. sony is still trying to pinpoint it's major market, let alone a cross platform.
-
buy it. if it fits your needs & you enjoy the music played on it [md isn't just about design - or is it?] then you shouldn't feel buyers remorse. waiting perpetually for the next big tech advance is going to leave you waiting for ever IMO. so i'm still buying a HD1 ... maybe

i'd find it hard to believe there's no mp3 unless it's an orphaned unit from the first gen. otherwise you'd be screwed if your discs were recorded in a mix of hi-sp & 256 mp3, half your tracks unplayable? the whole disc not playingback?

paypal to christopher [at] minidisc.org i know i felt better after doing it.

i assume that sony'll be using a data fille with up to 100 pics per file rather than a true digital camera style interface, going by the pics. i gues this rules out flicking through himds full of pics from the card reader. pity. any word on access time per pic?

it seems popular enough amongst the tank guys, there is a user on the tboard in iraq, does something on a tank, escapes me now, user name dragonMG. friends of mine who went to timor with the australian army all took md recorders, although i think they're all on ipods now.

100x would also assume you have the files preconverted to atrac3+ re cnet asia did they specify usb 2.0 compatibility aka same-old-same-old or usb 2.0 ?
