This is good to hear, I'm going to have to get me some to see what they're like. Thanks PS - how does the ES series differ from the premium? Looks similar...
-
Wow, its hard to believe we can still have converts these days Welcome to the fold (I hope). Keep us posted on your progress and feel free to post any questions/concerns.

Hmmm... I guess I'm old-fashioned then. The way I see it, its 2008, we have all kinds of technology yet our cell phones still sound like CRAP, and telephone LAND LINES deliver the best quality. How bluetooth is broadcasting wireless without any interference escapes me.
-
...then I AM totally clueless. I don't get it. To me wireless means you are BROADCASTING on a frequency of some sort. A broadcast is never perfect, whereas a high quality cable is like water through a hose; seamless.
-
Hmmmmm the Sony ES has a heavy duty case?? Are you talking about the exterior slip-sleeve case or the actual MD shell?? I've never held one, but I always just assumed the Sony ES discs were plastic. Please let me know - I'm very curious. For me the toughest winners for exterior case or general heft have been the TDK Pros, and the Sony 2000's.
-
Pardon my ignorance but... WHY? Like why do you need to record wireless to or from your computer when you can just use an audio cable? I guess I just need an example of how this technology would be incredibly useful. I can see how eliminating heaphone cables would HELP, but I still think you must lose something in quality going wireless.

Amen. Anyone who thinks MD is "useless" doesn't understand how to use MD.

S O L D The time has come where I need to let my museum piece go. I have some serious bills to pay and need money this bad Anyway, I call this unit a museum piece because I haven't used it since the 1st week I got it as I put it away in the original box to protect it, and moved on to buying other units. So this is in near mint condition (like new) and comes with all accessories, boxed. I can't emphasize how rare this Japan only model is, especially in blue. Paypal me $225 and its yours, shipped (outside USA will have extra shipping cost) I'm making the same offer to a friend offline, so if he accepts before anyone here I reserve the right to grant it to him. PM me if you want it. Thanks. Here is my feedback history.

For the couple times I did book-on-MD I discovered LP2 was better... to me there was just such a terrible sound quality going down to LP4, plus most books have LONG titles per track (like HARRY POTTER AND THE BLAH BLAH BLAH, CHAPTER 3) and Sonic Stage (or the MD) can't keep so much TEXT info, so the latter tracks would have no names on them. But yeah, gotta love MD!
-
Precisely why I only make LP2 discs now. I have more options for units from Ebay, and more options for what I can play my MDs on. TBH, I actually hate 1GB HiMD discs... too many albums/groups to skip through I think 2-3 albums on one MD is perfect
-
1) "Government snoops" would have no problem tracking down a unit to read a HiMD disc if it were important enough. 2) What are you hiding that is so important anyway?
-
The few times I downloaded a FLAC album, I just used a simple freeware program that converted FLAC to WAV, then imported the .wav into Sonic Stage, simple as that. I'm not sure why it has to be so complicated, unless you're going to tell me I'm losing all kinds of quality going from FLAC to WAV... As far as gracenote info, etc, I'd just re-enter the data into Sonic Stage manually if needed... like I said, I don't get FLAC files that often that it would really be an issue.
-
Do you think these sellers would ship to the USA?? Are these sites in English? If you have any links, I would appreciate it... let's not forget that supposedly Yahoo Japan auctions are supposed to open up to the USA this summer... or so we were told.
-
I used to say the same... then when HiMD units dropped off even Ebay like flies, I found myself going the MDLP route, happy to find SO MANY more unit options. Luckily with HiMD I was using 132k, so using LP2 is the same... all I lose is capacity, which is no biggey.

You are the better man for not firing back at me, and ending with a smile, and I thank you for that. I actually thought your actions were "new policy" and so I posted my reply in a fit of frustration, but we'll discuss off-line. -
Half of my library I suddenly can't play in SS 4.3
theblueraja replied to theblueraja's topic in Software
1. Why are you still using SS3.4? eeep, pardon my dislexia - I meant 4.3 2. Did you disable copy protection when you're ripping to Atrac? If not, say bye-bye and re-rip those tracks. yes, yes, disabled 3. Did you correctly point Sonicstage to the right locations of the tracks? Not exactly sure what you mean as there is assigning where to SAVE ripped material as an option, then there's a folder allocation during the backup tool reinstall process... When I right-click a track property then FILE - it shows me where it is, so it is "finding it"... maybe I just RE-do my original saved backup (I mean restore it) and assign the files to where Sonic Stage may NORMALLY store music? I made my OWN folder name called "music"... still doesn't explain why HALF of my library WORKS though. 4. How did you restore your library? Did you use the backup tool? Yes, SS backup tool I thought you're using MD. So why bother since you have all the music in your MDs anyway. I like to have my library in Sonic Stage for several reasons: - Back when I got my Sony Vaio I was sad that I had constantly deleted my music and wished I kept it on my PC... I guess I don't want to have that same regret due to the size of my music collection. - I sometimes make different MD compilations/collections, or I make an MD for my brother at a later time, etc. - Though its not the best quality, sometimes when a friend wants a copy of something or I want to give them a sampling, I can do a quick SS audio CD - much quicker than re-ripping tracks. - My wife has an A808 - I may end up getting an ATRAC portable (like an A808) for myself Because he got Vista for free. Besides, he doesn't have XP anyway, at least not legally. lol - I've had XP for many years but yes, as far as a legit copy, my Vista is purely legit, and I did get it for free -

Great going, Wizard... apparently I now have to beat $500 to get this unit from this guy because of you. We were close to closing a deal at $175 before you stepped in. Enjoy your unit. -
This is very frustrating and I pray someone here may be able to help me. This has actually happened once before, but I think the last time the problem just sort of worked itself out on its own (very strange). I tend to format my PC frequently, and in doing so I obviously have to run the SS backup tool. This time I upgraded my OS to Windows Vista. Not sure if that is a factor, but regardless, more than HALF of my content now becomes a shade of gray and will not play. While the location of the files are in a different folder than they were last time, it still "sees" it when I check the file info, or if I even manually double-click the file from the packages folder to try to play it... As far as rights go, that's rediculous because these are all CDs I ripped from my own library. I still have two backups saved on an external drive, but they were both done using SS 4.3, so I can't go back to an earlier version. Is it possible Sonic Stage can only handle so much content? (I own over 3,000 CDs... though I've probably ripped around 1,000 or so) Am I screwed and I just need to delete everything and start all over? Very annoying. Any help would be appreciated.

It seems obvious to me that we are experiencing separate issues, thought similar in nature... I'm going to have to start a separate thread for mine, also to help avoid confusion. Thanks.

?? So this is now a public AUCTION?? Geez, Wizard, this was a thread to help me out.... -
I suspect my issue is different from others... basically I have TONS of music that changes from green to gray, and then I can't play them even though I see they are all on the hard drive still... maybe SS can only handle SO MUCH music??
-
I have a similar problem, but it says I cannot play the file "would you like to download the license for this track?" etc... this is for HALF of my HUGE library of music. And yes, I'm using WinVista now, so are you saying 4.2 works better on Vista?? Only problem is, I think the last BACKUP I saved may have been with SS 3.4, and you can't reload a database to a LOWER version of SS, if I'm not mistaken... Help?
