  1. Press End search, then the play button, then skip forwards button once
  2. Realtime unfortuanately, no solutions will provide your unit with faster than realtime recording, but this solution would provide digital quality recording of CD's and MP3s. Your probably better off buying a cheap NET MD unit from ebay for recording
  3. Sounds like the recording head is gone/on the way out
  4. You could use a USB optical out kit from sony http://www.minidisc.org/part_Mac+PC_to_MD_..._Kits_Sony.html or find a soundcard with optical out but you might need a toslink adaptor for your optical cable eg: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOSLINK-Socket-to-3-...1QQcmdZViewItem I have used both of these setups and found the USB optical out kit to be the best, however they tend to be quite expensive Both of these solutions only provide real time recording though
  5. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Portable-MiniDisc-Re...1QQcmdZViewItem MZ-R91 in good condition 30 Minidiscs (9 brand new) Brand New MDR-EX71SL Headphones (although they are white ) £25 including p&p not bad, might make some money reselling this on after I make a few SP recordings for my player only unit
  6. For me HI-LP is a little too lossy for headphone listening, LP2 is fine in noisy environments
  7. Hi metal, I have an European RH10 (not an RH910). I guess im lucky i got the better battery!
  8. how big is the difference in battery life finalcoolman?
  9. As lossless has unpredictable file sizes, it might not be that good for recording as it would be hard to estimate the time remaining. However lossless from sonicstage would be useful IMO, along with a VBR atrac.
  10. So Sony were trying to make mp3 sound better than it is lol mabye they should have left as it was so that people would get pissed off with poorly encoded mp3 files and buy the original cd
  11. On top of that it has disc memory, meaning it will remember your EQ setting for some your mp3 minidiscs (up to 20), and revert to another EQ setting for your atrac minidiscs
  12. Very true, but you have to choose one or the other
  13. How exactly? The amount of hard drives I have had fail on me loosing alot of data far outweighs the number of times my minidisc has failed. Not having a go, just IMO minidiscs are more reliable and resillent than solid state recorder
  14. 192, 256, 352 are probably slightly better than MP3, but not by very much. 48 and 64kb/s is where the biggest difference between atrac and mp3 can be seen I use atrac 192 for mp3s, and 256 for CD's
  15. Useful if you have scratched CD's, extract using exact audio copy. Then mount on nero to maintain gapless playback
  16. I would go for 192atrac3plus, as you wont loose much information and it will sound around about the same as the original. atrac3plus is good with low bitrates, but higher ones it tends to be about equal to mp3 IMO
  17. RH10's come with a 1400mAh battery as standard, so it should charge them up fully. I have two and they both charge fine, and have no need for the AA at the moment. The lower end models come with a ~1000mAh battery, which should still give you some 8+ listening hours
  18. No you dont, it will work fine with or without the gumstick battery in it. You have to detach the add on battery case though as it blocks the AC adaptor socket
  19. Are the extra 'bits' by any chance the end of the track before? If so yes i have this problem!

    Hi-MD

I cant bring myself to buy a hard drive based player. Theres something not right about scrolling through hundreds of albums to find a song you want, I would be continually switching tracks. I like being able to grab an MD depending on my mood before I leave in the morning. I'm stil getting used to having 8 albums on a HiMD, it still seems too much to me! I guess thats what you get from growing up using tape based walkmans. I do miss the old days, when you could swap minidiscs with your mates. As not many people use minidisc these days its harder to do! But theres something cool about having a player that you know not many other people will have seen let alone own, especially with an LCD backlight remote. Im sure I will buy a hard drive based player in the future, just not right yet! P.S. Happy valentines day, I hope everyone remembered to get their loved ones something!
  21. I tried this just for laughs, and it does not move anything because as Damage says it is one single file which is still presented as fragmented after i had defragmented it.
  22. Id like to add: Fix the problem some people encounter with incorrect trackmarks when ripping a CD as one (currently I have to rip in easy cd creator and import the .wavs to get correct track marks) Apart from that im a happy bunny
  23. mm they make it hard for you so you give in and buy some new headphones
  24. I think he means LP4 on old net MD's vs 48kb/s atrac3plus on Reformatted discs
