I have two old units : MZ-R55 and MZ-R35 . My brother doesn't use its MZ-R30 anymore so he will get it to me one of these days. I like these old units, they are buil like a tank and are more like micro-decks that portable units for me.

For all us, it has taken years to know well the MD market. Mostly members know a lot better about Sony than other brands. Everything begin with minidisc.org - specially the equipment browser - then all the topics that are pinned in this forum. I suppose that some MD forums like the MD Facebook page (I am not a Facebook member) can bring many more answers. Every country has also a little community with sometimes his own forums and blogs.

I mick_t. You have been advised to buy one of those two units but your luck to get only one of them is very small.

Dbpoweramp is a good converter from Apple Lossless to... WMA lossless, so you will not loose tags as it happen when you convert to WAV files. Free version just let you convert only 10 tracks at once.

You can use classic MDs as Hi-MD discs.

Sonic Stage + any Net-MD connection with a Net-MD / Hi-MD recorders make titling much easier than a PS/2 keyboard. The keyboard is very useful when you don't have a computer.

That just remind me that I need to do it on my desktop. depending on Windows 8 editions (I have the basic edition), the procedure is not exactly the same. i find the disable option in PC Settings / Update & Recovery / Recovery / Advanced Setup / Restart Now

I used the plugin Wincue - witch create gaps like your silence MP3 tracks - with Winamp years ago. Took time and Net-MD connection everytime to delete those silence tracks created. Sometime I even needed to divide one track or two. The plugin Post-track-silence with foobar2000 is now my favorite when I record in real time. Never tried to use synchro-rec when using the pc and my deck.

This LIP-4WM shortage make me think of selling my two MZ-RH1 (grey and black) one of these days.

There is only one thing i don't like with this unit when it get old, the screen is far too dark. I have a newer NH700, its screen is very clear.

Me too;I am considering to downsizing my - smaller - collection but I am lucky, I need to bring the units ans all the packaging to France to do that on ebay France and leboncoin.fr, so this little complication brake my will power (power is a big word in that case).
