  4. I remember seeing these on sale at the airport in Amsterdam what seems not so long ago but is probably at least 2 years ago. A pity they don't have Type-S for MDLP playback.
  5. The offical remote that comes with the MZM-100 is the RM-MC60 (part number 1-479-321-11) and can be found at Sony Parts Services in US for $43.95 by inputting the part number into the search engine on their site. http://servicesales.sel.sony.com/web/index.jsp However this is not a backlit remote so you could either go as Rob says for the RM-MC35ELK which ships with the Japanese RH10 amongst others or the 3 line RM-MC40ELK. Both of which can be bought on eBay. For the latter I would recommend buyfromjapan a reputbale seller that many people here (including myself have used).
  6. There are a few here: http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-S1.html
  7. I find it hard to believe that the RH10 would sound better than the RH910. They should use the same amp. I wonder how happy you would be if you had bought a player that has the HD Digital Amp
  8. Good choice. Of the Hi-MD units only NH900 and NH1 have line-out mode. None have line-out dedicated socket. The effect of the line-out mode is simply to flatten the EQ and crank the volume up to the max. Editing can be done on all units including RH10, but if you want to burn to a CD via your computer later, issues have been encountered when uploading tracks that have been edited on the units. What he said was that you can store nearly 8hrs of Hi-SP at 256 on 1GB disc. If you put LP2 on a Hi-MD disc (which as we already said can only be done via Sonic Stage) you will get nearly twice this. Probably none, if on the RH10 you flatten the EQ manually and crank up the volume to maximum levels. Actually maybe a small difference given that the NH1 has a HD amp and the RH10 doesn't.
  9. The RH10 also ships with the higher capacity NH-14WM battery vs. the NH-10WM battery that comes with the RH910.
  10. I used to use Simple Burner for this very reason when I first got my NH900. Then I figured out what the issue was and now use almost exclusively Sonic Stage because - Sonic Stage will transfer cover art (for players that support it) - SS will transfer track date info (for players that support it) - with SS I can set separate artist info for tracks and albums within the same group. You can't do this I don't think with Simple Burner. ie. set the artist property on a compilation album to "Various" but then set the individual artists on the tracks.
  11. With Sonic Stage this can happen if you transfer individidual tracks from within a group together. You need to make sure that your view is set to "Albums" or "Albums / Playlists" from the drop-down views on the left, then when you transfer, just transfer the top level group or album (don't go into an album then select all tracks and transfer).
  12. I will try and avoid the obvious things like saying check CAPS Lock etc.. Have you tried clearing any cached passwords in your browser? Failing that I would PM Kurisu and he can probably reset your password.
  13. Let us know how you get on and if you do have problems - please post and we'll try our best to help you out. Yes the main advantage is no need to lose quality through transcoding.
  14. Sonic Stage is not the ideal software, but general consensus is that from 3.0 onwards and espcially with 3.2 and 3.3 much has been done to address a lot of the issues: - Unlimited uploads - ability to switch off DRM on tracks transferred to MD units - new bitrates added etc.. I would seriously recommend trying 3.3 and hopefully it will get rid of some of the "bitterness"
  15. Blanket statments such as the above are not really necessary. Sonic Stage does not "suck" as you say. If you have a specific issue please post in the Software forum and we'll try our best to help you out. But in answer to your question, you still need to use Sonic Stage to be able to transfer MP3 audio files to 2nd gen Hi-MD players.
  16. Crudi - from what I understood your 2.3 was a "native" Chinese version and you upgraded to a US version hence the characters were no longer displayed correctly in SS. If this is the case you will always need to run using Applocale to view them properly. Anyway glad you and Ishii sorted it and things are now ok.
  17. If I understood correctly you had the Chinese version 2.3 then upgraded this to 3.3 - which version? Can you manually create a DWORD value key in there and set it to 800000. If you do this then run SS under APPLocale for Traditional Chinese do the tracks display correctly?
  18. The full registry key is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SonyCorporation\OpenMG\PD\{D887F25F-02A3-44D7-841F-583DD5231B5F} In here you should see area code. To enter the test mode on an NHF-800 see this thread.
  19. Yes I think the one ending in 21 is for the US. This is the case for the LIP-4WM's also. The normal ones end in 11 or 31 and 21 for the US. Not sure what the difference is.
  20. As I already said in my other post you can record to HI-SP 256 direct via line or optical in. You can do this on the unit. Once you tell the unit the disc mode it formats the disc in that format (MD or Hi-MD). If you buy a unit with an optical in then you can record from CD using the optical cable.
  21. As regards the interface to my Hi-MD units, everything is great. I don't have an HDD players to offer an opinion. Maybe you should post at our sister forum AtracLife to maybe gauge other experiences.
  22. As someone already said the USB mass storage driver is already part of Windows XP base install, it is not with W98 hence you have to install it separately.
  23. You can't record to LP2 on a Hi-Md formatted disc via line/optical in. You can do this with Sonic Stage but not with Simple Burner. With Hi-MD formated discs you can record to 64K, 256 and PCM via optical-in on the unit itself. Or to SP, LP2, LP4 but with the disc formatted to Net MD mode. So to answer your question you would have to use Sonic Stage to put Atrac132 on a Hi-MD formatted disc or record via Optical In to Hi-SP and you would get about 2 albums worth on an 80 Min disc (or about 4 if using Atrac 132 via SS).
  24. The only bricks and mortar store in the city I live in sells them at 9.99 EUR (about 11.73 USD or 13.97 Canadian). I bought a batch of 10 from Hong Kong a while back and these have kept me busy for a while, but I generally buy them from Minidisc AU when they have them in stock in batches of 5.
  25. Ok I think the RH10 is set to create a new group for each set of recordings via line in. If you go into the menu then into Rec Settings - there is an option called "Group REC". Set this to off. This will stop the automatic creation of groups. You can then still title individual tracks via SS or Simple Burner.
