in that case i would suggest that you take a look at the Sharp DR420 or DR580 (if u can stretch the budget)...these 2 models should keep u happy for years to come...=) they have all the features that you desire...
-
actually after looking into the ACIDPro software that Sony started badging as their own it seems that it has support for NetMD units...i haven't got the program atm so i can't test it out to verify it but on the site i think it says in print that it supports NetMD so i think it could...

MD to PC digitally: it´s possible
mAjEsTiC replied to usuario_usable's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
hehe...enjoy ur MD unit...it's a flagship model so it will have quite a lot of features that u'd expect in a high end model...it doesn't need the XiTeL device to transfers from MD -> PC as you're just wasting more money than buying a 3.5mm stereo cable and connceting it that way...unless u want to record from ur PC through digital (and ur soundcard doesn't have a TOSLink output) then this device will come in handy as it uses a USB port to create a digital output from your computer bypassing the soundcard (if u have a dodge soundcard this would be a pretty good buy IMO)... -
i don't think so...as SimpleBurner doesn't seem to have a check-out limit...(someone correct me if i'm wrong here...)
-
if you use SonicStage/OpenMG and RealOne then there is a check out limit...what it basically means is that for one song you have 3 "check-outs"...this means that you can only transfer that particaular song from PC->MD 3 times before it won't let you transfer anymore...you need to check-in the song to get one of the counters back....this seems pretty st00pid and i would suggest that you use the Nero+SimpleBurner method outlined here (as SimpleBurner doesn't have a check-in/check-out counter i think) so you can transfer as many copies of the song that you want more freely...that and the tracks aren't protected so you can delete the song from your MD without having to use a PC to do this...

MD to PC digitally: it´s possible

nope N910 LINE OUT is fine...it basically sound more or less the same on this device i would think... -
it's ok...i know that you're trying to help out...=)

get the EX71's i own them and would recommend them to u...they are surprisingly comfy despite their looks...a very nice set of buds...otherwise you could take a look at the E888's also from Sony or if you're budget conscious then take a look at the Sennheiser MX500's...

usuario_usable can u plz try and keep your posts limited as they clutter up the board since it's the same q over and over...i am sure that either myself or other board members will see the post that u made earlier and we will answer it promptly if we can...there is no need to post in multiple threads as we check new posts regularly so your q will usually be answered quickly...thx...check here to see what i've said about this device
-
that device will NOT allow you to transfer digitally from MD -> PC...i think if u absolutely need this then u're better off getting a deck with optical inputs and outputs...the only portable MD recorder i've seen with an optical output is the Sony MZ-R1 (the very 1st MD model released by Sony in '93)...i haven't seen a unit with one ever since...

Transfering music from MD to PC (it´s possible)

MD to PC digitally: it´s possible
mAjEsTiC replied to usuario_usable's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
that only transfers music from PC -> MD digitally and not the other way around...since most (nearly all) portable MD units do NOT have an optical output it can't use the optic cable to transmit digitally from MD -> PC...also i think if you read closer it says that it uses normal analogue cables to connect from MD -> PC...so recording to PC is done via analogue means...from what i've encountered only decks with optical outputs can transfer digitally from MD -> PC... -
just take it off to a service center to get it fixed up...that's the best thing to do...if u do want to do a board mod to get into the service mode then u need to know the PCB layout and what each component does...it should outline to you the various parts of the PCB and what each of them does...so i think that if u could they may have outlined it there...
-
hey there, try and get the N910 if u can afford it...uploading to the PC via the LINE OUT method is the only way to go as u might have been aware and yes the dedicated LINE OUT of the N910 is better than the Headphone jack of the N710...the quality of the sound should be slightly better on the N910...but if you're very stringent on sound quality go get yourself a nice deck with optical output and do it from there...the N710's output isn't that low...depends where u are in the world...only the european version of it is capped at a very low output level...the rest of the world is untouched at 5mW...
-
converting from a 128kbps mp3 to a wav format won't make it that much better since as u said it was from an mp3 file originally...as mp3 uses lossy compression u can't recover the data that was lost during that compression by changing it to a wav format...
-
i don't think there is a software that converts from .omg -> mp3 since .omg is Sony's proprietary file extension...if their software doesn't do it then i'm not sure whose does...(someone correct me if i'm wrong)
-
i think ur recording head might've gone bust...this happened on my N1 and i got it back to the Sony repair shop and got it fixed up...try recording in real-time through the computer's LINE OUT or TOSLink OUT jacks and see if it records that way...if not then it's your recording head...if it does then it's something wrong with the software/hardware interface...and try re-installing the software again...if all else fails just bring it back and claim the repair on your warranty (if it's still valid)
-
Japan Direct, T-Station and a few others like AudioCubes should have these models allowing you to import from Japan...
-
if it did then it would only allow transfers in one direction only...i.e. from PC->MD and not the other way around...

how to let the sony mz-n707 MD transport data from MD to PC
mAjEsTiC replied to a topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
this can't be done...MD Data and MD Audio discs (the ones commonly used in MD Recorders) are different media and record in different ways...they are not compatible with each other so it's not possible to use a NetMD capable unit to store data other than audio... -
when ur want to transfer to the MD it will conver the music files to ATRAC3 format to your hdd and then begin transfering across...it does this automatically...bit rate doesn't matter so much just that you won't get that good of a recording as compared to if you converted a wav file to ATRAC3...
-
but "downloading" is basically using a recording head to record data onto the MD...so in theory it is possible to mod the hardware enabling the NetMD downloader to record...
-
yeh i know that...but i don't get how that's funny???
