  1. heh, i dont see one under your avatar rich.. just see in writing "Group Icon". EDIT: Looks like the VIP icon is gone too...
  2. Was given 2 of these eBay batteries as a Christmas gift, now all I need to do is try to find the carrying case that came with my original! I'll be sure to keep everyone updated on the performance.
  3. Wishing everyone a safe holiday season.
  4. If you recorded as PCM on the unit, then the resulting OMA file is actually PCM. Therefore converting the uploaded OMA file (recorded as PCM on the unit) to WAV will result in no quality loss. All uploaded files from Hi-MD are OMA, regardless of codec (ATRAC or PCM).
  5. Depending on the original format of your legacy discs... If they are LP2/LP4 you can use the method in that thread and keep them in their original format (without DRM). If they are SP/MONO you can decide whether or not ypu want them converted to Hi-SP or WAV. Short answer to you question, yes. If you want to save a fairly large amount of space. I'm not sure I understand your question here, but i know nothing of 2x DRM or anything like that... The conversion to WAV is lossless so going from say LP2>WAV>Hi-SP will in theory have the same quality as LP2>Hi-SP. You can use MarC's Hi-MD Renderer program to convert DRM-Free OMA files to a variety of formats: http://www.marcnetsystem.co.uk/ Personally I have a copy of his program stored in the folder I store all of my DRM-free OMA files (my own recordings) on our external HD. I haven't ever really used the backup tool, so I am not entirely sure. Perhaps someone else with experience knows the answer here. Hope this helps some!
  6. Not necessarily, but it isn't specifically the RH1 (applies to all Hi-MD) as it is the SonicStage software itself. Following the method described in the thread richyu posted, you will have OMA files without DRM, so you can freely copy them to any computer/storage medium without fear of losing the rights to the tracks (which happens if the DRM is not taken off using the aforementioned method). This won't be any different than going from the original format to Hi-SP. Although with the method posted previously, you will not need to convert to WAV. Nothing. It serves its purpose and works if you need to backup/move your entire music library. But for smaller batches and your own uploaded recordings, there are easier ways (plus with the backup tool, the files still have DRM).
  7. Can't wait to hear more about this! This is great for the large number of people who have lost material on Hi-MD/.. Somone should contact Sony USA to see if there is a place to send discs in the states.
  8. i still have not encountered any errors that would require this method. i can replicate an error with the RH10 that renders a disc useless, but this method only works with RH1.
  9. 4.2 is a good bit better than 2.1 Still frustrating, yes. But some improvements nonetheless.
  10. Think we can hit 50 by year end? With holidays coming up it might just happen!
  11. You won't be able to playback Hi-MD formatted discs on the deck... Other than that, I personally would go for it (used to have the JE470 myself).
  12. you can try MarC's HiMDRenderer program ( http://www.marcnetsystem.co.uk/ ) what version of sonicstage are you using?
  13. It can be a nuisance... yes. What version did you install?
  14. Unfortunately SonicStage is a necessary evil for uploading/downloading with the NH900. WMP11 (or any other software to my knowledge) will not work.
  15. Can also upload LP2/LP4 with RH1 RH1 also remembers your manual rec-level settings.
  16. OS = Operating System.. for example Win98 Win2000 WinXP If you have antivirus software installed that was running while installing SonicStage you may want to try reinstalling with antivirus temporarily disabled.
  17. a few questions: - what OS are you using? - what version of SonicStage? - what filetypes are crashing SonicStage?
  18. First I would try the MDAC repair tool located in the downloads secvtion here in the forums. Failing that, try downloading and (re)installing MDAC completely. MDAC can be downloaded directly from microsoft.
  19. Im not positive, but I believe you will only be able to accomplish this using the RM-MC40ELK remote. I'll double check this later to be sure, or if anyone else can check, go for it.
  20. Anything prior to Hi-MD is considered legacy. The following modes are considered legacy recordings: SP MONO LP2 LP4 - Material recorded in these modes can be recovered using TOC cloning procedures. Hi-MD material (PCM Hi-LP Hi-SP) cannot be recovered in this way.
  21. I end up tangled in the headphone cables when I do this..
  22. I think that is for Legacy MD only, but may be worth a shot. Let us know how it turns out.
  23. Yep, I tested this when I first got the unit.
  24. You can upload the tracks to a PC and move them to Mac... Alternately you can record them realtime using the soundcard and Audacity. Unfortunately the uploading of Legacy recordings is PC only.
