Let me attempt to answer your questions. 1. Yes try Sonic Stage CP 4.2 it's very good. But you can make do with 3.4, I upgraded because I thought 3.4 was giving me troubles. 2. As of now, no not that I know of. Only thing I wish for is track info. on the main unit. 3. I don't understand your question but the RH1 sounds very, very nice. 4. To me I can hear the difference between PCM and Hi-SP because believe it or not I have very sensitive ears. But Hi-SP would blow your mind away, far better than legacy SP, remember legacy SP is very old technology and there for uses inefficient (is that a word?) compression methods. 5. I don't have those decks and receivers so I wouldn't know, but using line-out it should sound spectacular. The last few question unfortunately I cannot understand. Hope this helps.

Uploading of legacy SP? I think you are referring to the RH1, the only unit capable of uploading legacy MDs. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Great, I jinxed myself. Me and my big mouth. Just 5mins ago I was gonna charge it and it displayed "Low Battery" when I tried to give it a charge, and in reality it actually had 1 strong bar left. So I really don't know why its acting up, I had to unplug and replug the usb cable like almost 20 times, no kidding. On my final try I tried the other end and it finally worked, but I know that it has nothing to do with that, could my usb cable be frayed? Oh, and just to confirm, with Li-Ion batteries I can charge it any time I want right? Even if it is half or almost full. And the RH1 should let me charge it when I want right? Thanks for reading.

I've decided to just install it anyways, seems pretty much the same, but is noticeably faster. The DSEE to me acts as a bass booster, nothing more or less.

The DSEE to me is just barely noticeable, maybe it's because I'm listening to them in Hi-SP on my computer. But in some places you can notice a bass boost effect, that is pretty much the difference I can hear. I just keep it on, since it won't do any harm right? Also I think I shouldn't have uninstalled my Simple Burner, because I didn't know this SS doesn't come with it. Is there a place to d.load Simple Burner?

Actually instead of TOO COLD the manual says the RH1 is supposedly to say CHARGE if it's too cold or too hot. Funny thing is I think the temperature has a great deal to do with it, but it never displays CHARGE. And I am very happy to report that it has been charging normally since the last time I posted here. What I've been doing now is charge it while it still has one bar left, I've found charging it when it starts to flash is too late and starts to cause charging trouble. To sum it up, based on my experience the temperature has too be room temperature or else it will not charge properly and also charge it while you still can, don't wait until its too late. Hope this helps anyone whos frustrated.

I also wish they would come out with higher capacity Hi-MD discs. Lol, I can dream but I would love a Blu-ray Hi-MD unit.

Is there a reason for me not to switch to 4.2? Because 3.4 works great for me, but sometimes I get these messages that say I cannot transfer the following files, and I just close SS and re-transfer, but It does get annoying after awhile. Would I be better off with 3.4 or 4.2?

Glad we are back on topic, I agree with spiff about the mechanical beauty of not just the RH1 but minidisc in general. I still turn heads whenever I pull out my RH1 to swap discs. I really just don't care much for iPods. Maybe one to play games with?

What is with all the negativity, I'm sure e-tailers still have lots in stock. I don't know why the States don't have any blanks but surely its not the end of the world. And IIRC you can always ask them to order something for you at most big-stores such as Best-Buy. I'm sure the Sony Store would order some for you if they didn't have any in stock. Anyways just my 0.02

whats with Sony or who ever, with all these restrictions namely regional settings... why not let everyone have the same features. Although I'm not sure but surely regional settings can be defeated through service mode, although it is mentioned amny times in the service manual... it doesn't quite say how to get there. I think they did that on purpose, or am I just looking at the wrong places? Also I've found a interesting "feature", there is a diagnosis in the service mode that tells you where your recording failed or had an error thus somewhat helping you determine what went wrong, this can be found in the service manual. Anyways I've want nothing more out of my already the best portable DAP in the whole damned planet, other then title display on the main unit in at least English.

Yes one has to remember the RH1 itself cannot display titling, but I was hoping the mc38el could display kanji, didn't think the mc35elk was of higher resolution, my bad for the ignorance.

Interesting, I've have just been looking for something exactly like this, but the price I had in mind was much less. I guess I'll stick to the good 'ol wired music, not it's bad or anything.

I've noticed my RH1 was shaped oddly, not sure if it was the way it was or maybe I've distorted it with my last mishap. Anyways take a look at the crummy pictures and please tell me is this the way your RH1 looks like or is my shaped oddly. (Picture above)Ok, so see how it goes from right to left, the right part is sorta edgy, but then it slowly gets rounder. (Picture above)Here you can see it better, it almost looks like I've flattened it, and I worry I did because last time I rolled over it by accident.
