post-3299-1118966142_thumb.jpg

My OS is windows xp simplified chinese edition with sp2 and Framework 2.0 chinese edition.

wow!

that's really odd... you should have some problem in your windows or .net framework... try to reinstall the framework.

any advance on the topic of enabling GYM to create playlists in the sony player BASED on songs/mp3s in the sony player?

that is assuming that is a topic in the first place LOL ;)

Yes, next version will have that. Playlists and bookmarks of tracks IN the player :D

Hello! :)

As there are a lot of users with the new A series of walkmans, i'm trying to fix the keywizard so that is possible to use sonicstage or connect player for the key generation process.

This means that this will help people a lot, as they won't have to fake that there is a MP3 File Manager installed and stuff like that..

What we have is a player without any database (no OMGAUDIO, since the original was renamed) and all the crack.mp3 tracks inside the tmp folder. What we need is simply write this files into the walkman, so that the wizard can look for the keys. So, now we are supposed to do this with MP3 File Manager, Sonicstage or Connect. In the case of MP3 File Manager, the scenario is simple.. just drag the files. As for Sonicstage or Connect it is necessary to add the files into the library, and then transfer them as is. (and remove them from the library, not to keep all that trash...)

My question is that... for the new A players, why can't we use connect directly ?

I saw in Ltmayonnaise instructions that:

"This whole GYM installation process will only work using Sonic Stage, but before you scream… Ohhhh but I wont be able to use my artist link! I was able to get it working with Connect Player after getting GYM installed."

from

http://www.gaugestudios.com/nwa1000/

I am thinking on a much more simpler process:

"

Transfer MP3 Files with Sonicstage or Connect Player

1. Import all the files in the tmp folder and subfolders to your library;

2. Transfer all the files to the player (AS IS, without converting them into ATRAC);

3. Delete from your library all the tracks added in step 1.

4. Close Sonicstage / Connect Player

"

Isn't this enough ?

Does the OMGAUDIO directory structure created in Connect is different than the one created with Sonicstage ?

Ok... no one helps me with this issue.

I don't have a A series walkman, and i'm not going to buy one just to test this...

So if some of the A series walkman users reply to this it would be nice...

Don't you guys want the next GYM version ???

ok i'll try it but it reads way complicated

sorry ok please confirm two things for me,

1. The player has to be freshly initialised

2. I have to be using .NET framework 1.1

ok lol another question,

if i specify only 2000 keys to be gen'd and i end up exceeding 2000 songs on my player, what would i have to do? start again?

I really want to get all my music on the a3k and gym working so i can delete all the music off my pc and use the player as my portable music library that can be hooked up to be played back thru a pc (speakers!)

Yes.

All the tracks whose internal index is bigger than 2000, won't be able to be decoded.

So you'll need to regenerate the keys, now specifiying that you wish more tracks (5000 for instance).

You own a A3000 ? if yes you will be my beta tester, as noone replies to my question...

Confortable with that ? :D

Thanks!

yes I would love to be your beta tester. I would also love to have my NWA3000 back, as I have returned it to sony to check up on the gaps on the sides between the front and rear panels.

Umm... Well it wasn't initialised, but when I tried to drag the folders from tmp to the MP3FM library thing it would screw up, I don't remember what the error message says but the only folder that would transfer was 1, and there was nothing inside it.

When I get my NWA3000 back I'll give it a fresh start, because before, I had deleted some songs and re-added some, so that I suppose creates gaps in the entry list which might have been causing the problem.

I'll let you know in a week or so, thanks for your patience.

xispe is it possible for you to include .NET framework 2.0 support in the upcoming version? my internet explorer is acting a bit funny since I uninstalled 2.0 (Using IE7b1)

New version of GYM is out!!! :D

1.2 Beta

gymscreen2.png

New stuff:

- New screen layout

- Bookmark edition and playback (!) :D

- Playlist creation and edition (fully functional, but still experimental)

- KeyGeneration wizard now doesn't requires Mp3 File Manager to be installed.

NW-A**** users, please try this wizard following the presented instructions for connect player, and tell us if it worked!

Some Notes:

- The playlists created in GYM work perfectly on the player (tested on my NW-HD5), but...

- Sonicstage doesn't like GYM created playlists... (still to figure out why... but sometimes it messes with the tracks on the playlists, and their name isn't displayed correctly)

Download here:

http://clientes.netvisao.pt/~sonygym/GYMv1.2beta.zip

Source code is here:

http://clientes.netvisao.pt/~sonygym/GYMv1.2Source.zip

The GYM homepage was updated with new screenshots and stuff:

Thanks!

Hi Xispe,

This is a great addition to the software - well done! :D

Only bug I can spot right now is - if you are browsing your music and drag tracks over to a playlist, you can see the number of tracks appearing after the playlist name. This is fine, until you select the playlist itself - then the number of tracks disappears!

Hope this makes sense.

Cheers - and keep up the good work!

Can't wait until you can add mp3s to the collection!

Hi

I'm trying the latest version of GYM with my A1000.

I launched the wizard and all goes fine, the A1000 is found (even though I don't have MP3 FileMgr), I specified 2000 tracks so the cracks*.mp3 are created on my Hard Disk.

Then I launch connect, import them all in the library -> OK

Then I use Connect to transfer them to the A1000 and I cannot. Connect will only transfer crack1.mp3, it refuses to transfer the others (no error message, just not doing anything...). I tried 1 by 1, 10 by 10, or the whole lot : same result. I tried with a "normal" mp3 : transfer was fine via connect.

Hope this helps, thank you for the good work so far

A big thank you for developing this software and for sharing with us all :)

Sonicstage is awful! I have long wanted an alternative.

I was finally forced into finding something over the last couple of days. I upgraded to sonicstage 3.3 and in the process the software no longer recognises my network walkman (nw-hd3) and demands I delete all files before allowing me to transfer tracks again. No chance I've got 10gb of great music on my player! And how dare Sony try and bully me out of MY own music!

I have installed GYM and the MP3 file manager, but I am not too clear on how to get everything working nicely together. So I have some questions. Any advice gratefully received.

1) Ok, I can transfer MP3 files from my laptop to the device fine with MP3 manager. But, I can't work out a way of creating a new group or folder in which to put the new files into. How do you do this without going back to sonicstage? Can I create groups or folders using GYM?

This is my big problem, I can get tracks on, I can get tracks off, but I don't seem to be able organise new tracks in any way.

2) If I did want to re-initialise my nw-hd3 for sonic stage, can I use GYM or MP3 file manager to transfer all the music of my network player onto my computer in a way in which it can be brought back and accepted by sonic stage for transfer back onto the player after initialisation????

Thanks for your efforts

GYM doesn't support uploading tracks into the player. For that you can use MP3 File Manager. Instead of dragging mp3s files into MP3 File Manager, try dragging a folder with mp3 tracks inside of it. This way Mp3 File manager will create a folder for that group of tracks.

What you can do in the meantime is install GYM, and use GYM to grab all the mp3 tracks you have inside your nw-hd3. After that import all the extracted tracks into Sonicstage (it will accept them, as they are plain mp3s). So in sonicstage you can reinitialize, and then upload all the tracks back into the player.

GYM will be able to save all your Mp3 tracks in the player, as for ATRAC tracks, you will loose them, as GYM doesn't supports ATRAC :(

Hope this helps

Bye!

Great, thanks for the information, will work on that now.

Hi,

Nice work, keep up the good work etc.

I have found a bug(?) in GYM beta 1.2

When you make a playlist all works fine, but when you move new songs to your player your playlist is totally messed-up. I think this has something to do with a changing database or something like that.

Hi!

Yes, i noticed that bug.

It is because the playlists are not being written correctly. If you check on sonicstage, the playlists that you create with GYM appear in Sonicstage with the tracks totally messed-up!

Thanks

Thanks for this, it's very helpful.

Doh! of course, I should have tried adding a folder rather than individual files!

It's good GYM can help me save the MP3s before re-initialisation. Shame about the atrac files and shame on Sony for constructing such as stupid system!

Does anyone know of a way of getting sonicstage to recongnise my nw-hd3 again without a reinitialisation? I am very angry with sony about this.

Simply pack all those small files into a single zip file. (Only the files in the OMGAUDIO directory, not the other directories below). Send these files to gym@netvisao.pt so that I can analyse what is going on.

Thanks.

BTW: In what language are the track titles saved ? Are you using non-english characters ?

Hello, as with everyone, HATS OFF TO YOU for coming up with and more importanly going through with the creation of another program that performs most/all functions of SS.

I have joined this forum for just this type of information of what I was looking. I am glad that I am not the only one with this problem we have with Sony.

Provided that I may get this program to work I shall most definately donate to this AWESOME CAUSE!!!

I am unsure if I should slow this momentum down and post in this thread or make a separate thread. (hopefully the Admin can decide), but I seem to be having a problem with playing the music. Do anyone have any input for me to troubleshoot?

Let's see, I installed GYM 1.2beta ; installed MP3 FM 2.0 (on PC and on player) ; installed MS .net 1.1 ; and ran the wizard.

I did finish the wizard...took me an hour, and it completed and acknowledged the notice of delete files. I forget which ones it said it would delete, I am at work now and will have to check when I get back home.

I did read somewhere about the Direct X, I checked last nite and saw I have 9.0c.

FYI - After the MP3 FM finishes am I suppose to leave this open? I exit out of it thinking that I am finished, perhaps this is where I am making a mistake.

I am 1 day into this stuff and my new player, so I apologize for my lack of knowledge of this software. I am taking time to study up on this to understand.

Thanks again

Hey! Seems that you have done everything right. What happens exactly when you try to play a track ? Can you extract tracks from the player anyway ?

I tried your 1.2a beta. I still have the same problem in connect. I checked and the files have different Titles (same artist/album/album artist but it happens with other mp3s). Still, it is only crack1.mp3 which gets transfered.

Damn!

For instance, in connect can you transfer more than one time the same track ?

I think probably connect is computing some sort of hash with the "musical data" of the mp3. Probably i'll have to mess around even more with the mp3. Going to try that now... will write the track number somewhere in the middle of the mp3 hacking it completely :excl:

I've had the same problem as Grim Santo and thanks to xsipe it was solved.

The problem was in the two tracks that didn't have the genre field filled.

I could've probably solved it on my own simply by clearing out the contents but i was too dumb i guess.

Just starting the testing - as for now - i can't be happier. I finally can share the music on the walkman, which generally was the reason for getting myself a 20gb mp3 player.

works like a horse. thanx a lot. one thing i can say for sure - it does work in russian windows envIRONment.

Special thanks to gabdag that is a cool guy for sending me the index files in his player (which fired the error) and for being part of a Russian Hardcore band. http://crrust.ru/

So for Grim Santo everything should work now.

As for the Connect uploading stuff not working, in this version we have another try! The "musical data" of each mp3 is different, so.. i Just hope that now it upload all the files into the player.

Hello, I've made a dutch translation for GYM, hope it would be helpfull

Just add it between:

<translation> and </translation>

in your GYM.xml file

Translation

Thank you very much!

It will be included after v.1.2 gets out of the beta stage!

We will need to translate more text with the new 1.2 version features, so we will get back to you!

Vovo, the translations are waiting for you ;)

This s getting lke a multi-threaded thread !!

About GYM and Connect on the A1000, bad news. Still same problem with only the first crack getting transfered. I tried to start with crack6.mp3 to see whether it was only crack1.mp3 or the first one. It is the first one to get transfered to remain the only one. So in the library on the A1000, I have crack6.mp3, plus 2 other "normal" mp3 that I transfered to check that everything was working fine with the transfer.

I tried to play with the attributes of another crack (changed artist / album / year...) but it made no difference.

Sorry for the bad news...

xispe I think you should edit your other thread, "GYM Download Link and Installation Instructions" and add the instructions for the new release of GYM, that way it will be easier to find rather than trolling through this thread. Just a suggestion.

I would... if I could. The topic is locked and even as moderator I can't unlock it :(

Oh what??? What about the super-mods, like kurisu or ascariss?

=[

Two questions:

1. When I launch MP3FM from my A3000, I get about three pop-up errors that say "Cannot select driv".... what does that mean?

2. Can track tags be edited thru GYM?

I think this has been asked before, but I have forgotten the answer and tbh am too lazy to look through the thread.=D

Furthermore about using MP3FM, it says "Transfer interrupted. Some tracks may not have been transferred!" and all I see is the 1 folder which is empty. Going to try with CP.

CP ignores all the crack.mp3s

Oh this is another important question...

Do GYM and MP3FM have to be ON the player?

Ah okay. I have to open each tmp subfolder and import the individual files one folder at a time... Sodeska!!

Just a thought to xispe: if you are a mod, could you create a new thread with updated instructions and then merge it with the original Download Link and Installation Instructions thread if it is closed?

Hi there!

Great Forum. I found it yesterday via google

I'm thinking about buying the NW-A3000.

I have a question, I'm sorry if it has been discussed before but I am too tired right now to view the whole 40 pages of this thread.

So, if I'll download GYM and the MP3 File Manager am I able to copy Mp3 files to the NW-A3000 Player without importing them somewhere first? And I don't want any changes to my mp3s being made.

Maybe I did not understand the concept of the CP software but as far as I've read you have to import your music first?

The NW-A3000 seems to be a good choice for me. Will be my first mp3player. But all I want is a good player for cheap money and not an overprized Mp3player with an extra screen that sucks battery time.

The NW-A3000 for 222€ seems to be a good price-performance ratio if there would not be the software that I'm forced to use :-/

I hope I do not post in the wrong thread.

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Ted

Ok!

I see that so far the GYM key generation wizard isn't going anywhere for NW-A1000 or NW-A3000 users.

Connect Player simply refuses to put the crack tracks into the player...

I wonder why...

Meanwhile you can use Sonicstage to do the process... In sonicstage it works, because i was able to test it!

Simple process:

1) Install sonicstage v3.3

-- RECOVERY OF UNFINISHED WIZARD SITUATION --

2) Check your network walkman root folder...

- If you find a folder named "OMGAUDIO backup" and no "OMGAUDIO" folder, rename "OMGAUDIO backup" to "OMGAUDIO"

- If you have both a "OMGAUDIO backup" and a "OMGAUDIO" folder:

- create a backup of the "OMGAUDIO" folder in your harddrive

- delete "OMGAUDIO" folder

- rename "OMGAUDIO backup" to "OMGAUDIO"

--

2) Run the KeyWizard, generate the crack mp3 files.

3) When the wizard asks you about which software you will use to upload, select Sonicstage and clic Next.

4) Open Sonicstage

5) Import the tmp folder inside the directory of GYM.

6) Transfer all the imported tracks to the device.

7) Shutdown Sonicstage

8) Follow on with the wizard until the end.

Like this Keywizard will work.

This process is a resumed version of what is explained here:

Try it out...
