:) I'm a big fan of Depeche Mode myself. I was lucky enough to see them in Carcassonne this Summer. A bit dissapointed comparing to their touring the angel shows though . I'm collecting their original 12" UK releases since a long time now. If you are a big big fan of the band and are in DM stuff collecting as well, here is a website you have to visit absolutely : http://www.depmod.com/misc/index.html

Got a nice Sony CD Walkman recently at a "Lifeline" charity shop -a D-EJ611 for $1.

What's interesting about this model is the CD Walkman uses the old Walkman logo.

Also from the same store, a Nintendo Game Boy Advance:

At a car boot sale-a Epson Stylus TX100 printer:

In the US the Epson Stylus TX100 is known as the Epson Stylus NX100 and was released last year.

I've also had to give a vow not to buy any more MD equipment for at least a year.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->Welcome to the triple RH1 ownership club <img src="http://forums.sonyinsider.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> .

I felt bad too for quite a while, but I lend one of my RH1's out from time to time, and one is likewise for long term backup.

Ha! I want to see that Vow kept , ........he he he he he , I wil send pix from Hard Off just to tease you . !

MDS-JB980 all the way from England. Works a treat even on my funny little uptransformer. No evaluation on quality yet but it certainly feels and looks very solid.

No pictures, yet. Cost me 77 quid + postage. Amazing!

(in answer to your other comment Wiz, I base my appreciation of LP4 on the lack of distortion in all different types of sound, especially different instruments and combinations of instruments - the CRAP only comes when one tries to transcode, because lossy->lossy doesn't work right).

I'm really looking forward to comparing the playback to my MXD-D400.

Neat feature: you can choose whether the USB connection is on or off with a button unlike the portables (which have to be unplugged from the USB bus) so it's easy to control when you want to download things to it. Now if I could only UPload from this beast without using optical. Cmon guys in Berlin, let's see if you can do it.....

Can't believe it's taken me this long to get on the bandwagon, but I finally picked up a PS3 today. I went for the 120GB Slim, and even after just a few hours playing around I think this is such an amazing device. A breeze to setup, slick and a pleasure to use. I was also surprised how good the quality of the TV on demand here in the UK via the BBC IPlayer service is on this device. Having used the IPlayer on my phone and on the laptop, it looks so much better via the PS3 - pretty much the same as watching the original program via DVB-T.

My first MZ-NH900. What a neat little device! Alumin(i)um upper body, looks like, though the lower body is definitely plastic.

The one I got was in mint (completely unscratched, no sign of wear on any buttons or jog dial) condition, save for one thing: the NiMH gumstick battery didn't work. The usual cleaning of the contacts on the door seemed to fix it.

I find the display is a bit faint but either it recovered a bit or I got used to it.

One gotcha, I tried to take it apart to look inside at the battery connx, but got stuck because the door seems to be in the way of getting the bottom case off. There is a cryptic comment in the service manual about unsoldering something, but I wasn't going to do that :)

Thanks. The power problem seems to be worse than I thought, I think it might be related to that anyway. With a fully charged NiMH gumstick (that works perfectly in other units), it doesn't properly recognise the battery for more than a few minutes. Giving the "empty" sign after about 2 mins and then switching off completely within 5. Taking the battery back to the other unit (or to the GP charger), it still shows full.

However it runs just fine off the AA external, or off USB, or off 3VDC in.

Maybe I need to post a separate thread, but I need to know if this is an adjustment (settings) thing, or a cleaning thing.

I didn't just buy these, I have had them for a while, but I got a set of Mach Ones for $70. They looked pretty rough when I got them, but I did a little bit of work and got them pretty respectable.

They had a dark almost black finish on them that came off with some time and lots of Fantastic glass cleaner. About 10 hours went into just getting rid of that stuff.

This was taken the first night I brought them home.

After cleaning, the finish came back to almost red in color.

All in all, sounding great :)

Are you using "Jackson" to mean 5 UK Pounds? If you are, that's an incredibly good deal.

BTW, for our American cousins, it is short for Jackson 5. For other quaint English usages for currency, this might be worth a visit.

I love that link! No-I was referring to the bill Andrew Jackson is on, a 20. But the way our currency is going it might be 5 quid here very soon :)

this has got to be my favorite:

Poorly Fish Six quid (sick squid) [Thanks to Kevin Lowther - sounds like more of a bad pun than slang but ... Tom reports that the reference he knows is "dead octopus" as in "I've only been here 5 minutes and I've done a dead octopus". And Darryl Clark reports the expression "dodgy octopus" is also used.]

I have always been curious about the F1's, supposedly one of the most comfortable headphones around. I hope I will like the closed type W5000's, I'd only ever tried AD700's, open type.

BTW, no easy times for me either, but used at more than half price, I couldn't resist.

I hope you like the W5000's. For comfort, the F1's are definitely the most comfortable headphones around. If there are any more comfortable headphones out there (especially for less than $300), I'd like to know what they are. I've tried and/or owned dozens of headphones - maybe more, and shopped for months with the primary goal of comfort before settling on the F1's. At the time, I could have spent twice as much, but the comfort rated a 10 and the SQ was at least an 8.5 in my book. They are the only headphones I've ever kept around in hopes of repairing after they were damaged or worn out. I wore them for 8-10 hours straight, 5 days a week for over 5 years, only taking them off for 5-10 minutes every couple hours at most. Sometimes, I'd turn the audio off for hours and forget I still had them on. I remember lots of times getting up and having them yanked off my head by the cable. I guess that's why the pads are all worn out. I wish I'd have bought a backup pair, or two. Yeah, I'm a real fanboy of the F-1's. It p.o'd me immensely when I found out I missed, by a few days, a pair that went for $80 on ebay.

Regarding the sound, the only very minor issue is the bass is a bit thin. I'm not into heavy booming bass anyway, so that's a non-issue for me. Truly awesome headphones for the money. Once again, Sony screwed up when they discontinued them.

Just received a NHF800 HiMD recorder with 10 MD74 recorded in HiMD mode (with quite good music on it), and an early looking HiMD 1GB disc (black with the red liners).

Sounds sweet, and looks more sturdy than my RH1, so now I can carry HiMD without fear and keep the RH1 home as an up/downloader :D

The only thing is that the display of the remote is dead, but all the buttons work, so I guess I can use it as a blind remote. But never mind, I got it cheaper than the 700 I missed a few days ago :)
