Exactly, I bought a MDS-B5 with "a new lens" in France, a lens that work 6 months only. Thank to phamcu in Vietnam, I pay 20$ for a "new second hand" one and a full check-up. He will repair all my decks in the future... as he his the only guy I know who have "new second hand" lenses

I not interested by your Hi-MD disc (I prefer classic MD) but I know that phamcu will be soon interested if he buy one or two unit to riverrock... And if I come in France, I can bring them back in Saigon for him, or his sister. No idea if he could be interested by some classic blanks but let me ask him.

That is because riverrock sell the only two Hi-MD units I think it is the most important to have. And I know you want now the best in both MD decks (match done) and portable units.

I has repaired some of my units (see his content). I even sold him a black Sony JA555ES deck. After his gold (& few black) high-end Sony ES decks collection, it is time to start a portable units collection too ... but it is rather difficult in Vietnam as there are no more portable units on the market, specially Hi-MD units. It is why I recommend him as a good buyer.

By the way, for what I know, type S is an improvement for LP listening. Type S include type R which is an improvement for SP recording ! I don't know if the type R improve the LP recording. As you do, you can compare the LP listening after between MDPL units type S vs non type S. The high-end Sony JA333ES MDLP deck is... type R. So if somebody can tell me if for example a JB980 type S deck like mine sound better than the JA333ES with LP Mds, I will be rather asthonished. I think that the musical quality itself of the unit as a huge importance.

I noticed that almost all Sony Qualia 017 I have seen on the web are proposed by people living in china. The safest way to know if the guy realy own the unit is in asking a ton of pictures and then checking if they come or not from the web. Stephen is right, a service like escrow.com is highly recommended in such case. I will also not be interested if the unit is not complete (including the box) and in perfect aesthetic condition (a technical problem is always possible and can explain why the unit is sold). At this price, it is the minimum. By any way, I will never do a transaction with a private chinese seller, except in Vietnam (because I can see the unit).

I have both two original LIP-4WM (two RH1) and two fake ones coming from Hong-Kong for... free.The fake ones are thicker. Work well even if I know one day they will not charge very well.

Pierre's decks are too expensive for the vietnamese market. He has some rarities and will be one day a goos source for... spare parts !

Happy and unhappy to know that you had to sacrifice another deck... It is the only way nowadays in the MD format.
