  1. 12 bucks for the minidisc player case? i got mine at walmart for like 10, maybe less cdn at walmart
  2. the remote is backlit, but not the unit.
  3. no one knows until the higher end models come out, so we can do some testing.
  4. rm-mc11el works fine, all functions intact (except for when you hold the display button down and it goes into the menus)
  5. there will be remotes available at key retailers soon, when the remaining MD's hit the market.
  6. ya, did the otherone die on you? the battery or HD?
  7. if your just using netmd, you can use real player 10, which you can configure to delete the openMG file once its transfered, which is nice. if you're using hi-md, your stuck with sonicstage for now...
  8. i play mine mostly at 17-20/30, and i have those lil sony earbud/earphone hybrid thingies (like $40 cdn) its all about how deaf you are (how loud your surroundings is, and how soundproof your earphones are, etc), really.
  9. it has the exact same volume as the 510/610, but the 600 can support more bass at higher volume levels, which is nice
  10. the 600d model has the same remote port as any other remote compatible device from sony, with most functions intact.
  11. wow, you should go make one for the hi-md! (the 600)
  12. what you talking about? that USB cable is availble at your local electronic shop!
  13. Welcome! 1: YES! you can record in the classic MD format! on old std-MD discs! (or record in Hi-md mode. you can't have both on there at the same time tho) 2: iceedtea's build of SS2 is simply a variation of SS2 that lets you burn CD's of your music (including uploaded material, i believe). otherwise, you'd need a VAIO computer to burn CD's.
  14. they know nothing until they get concret answers from their computer. that usually is always true with sony.
  15. no. i bought a nm-h battery chaerger with the 600d. i already have the batteries, because i have a 510 (which i charge them with)
  16. im up for the task, as im going to be returning it right befor eth 30 days are up so i can get my 700. i never installed linux before. (ive installed 2000 and xp enough for two people )
  17. it works, ive done it. you'll still have burning capabilities.
  18. you can use the commercial version to upload your recorded material... but you can't export it (currently) to a cd, unless you have a VAIO computer (GOD i hate sony's proprietary crap) iceedtea's build of SS2 bypasses the "VAIO check" and lets any computer burn cd's via SS2.
  19. you can only upload PC downloaded songs back to the original computer, unfortunately... i saw it in the properties of the song in the hi-md. so i suggest you just burn them to cd. must faster. (7 megs/sec @ 52x)
  20. actually the light remains on until the display goes back to its passive mode. ie: the volume is changed... the light stays on until the the display goes back to the track time.. so, (ive tried this) if you have a song with a short name, the light will only be on for 2 seconds. if its longer, and forces the remote to scroll the name, the light will remin on until the name is completely viewed/scrolled. Its the little details that makes this cool. 8)
  21. i dont think i'll even consider purchasing the system until i see some improvement in transfer speed. but still... thats a lot of memory....
  22. you can upload it as a PCM, where you can export it to a cd, if you have iceedtea's SS2. i dont believe it comporesses it, but nobody knows for sure until the better models come out.
  23. 420 is this year's model, and 410 is last years. i suppose that there is some enhancements, such as product life, sound quality, little stuff. the 410 is cheaper because it old.
