Wow I can't believe I missed something so simple such as that. Anyways thanks.

You can change the recording level on the fly. You don't have to stop or pause it.

Listening to Meteora in PCM... I had just enough space left on one of my 1GB blanks and thought why not just fill it up with some tracks in PCM. Sounds really nice... anyways 1. Foreword 2. Don't Stay 3. Somewhere I Belong 4. Lying From You 5. Hit The Floor 6. Easier To Run 7. Faint 8. Figure.09 9. Breaking The Habit 10. From The Inside 11. Nobody's Listening 12. Session 13. Numb

A Sony POC-15AB would do the trick too, I was just wondering about this too last week and found out the answer myself by taking a look at the accessories list in my manual. I think the optical in on the unit is also electrical right? Or is it...

I have a RH1, and can tell you that my atleast, automatically turns off after I pause it for like 5-10 minutes. But I don't see how you need to pause it for over an hour. Do you want it to start at the same place when you play it again? Because even if you turned it off it would start at exactly the same place where you left of from. There is an exception though, if you opened the lid then it starts again at the first track.

I think the line-out is a hardware limitation, so even if you did somehow "enable" line-out it would do any good. Guess you could always turn the volume all the way up and turn off eq like suggested above.

I worry that the bristles are too rough and may actually do more damage than good. There's a saying that goes like this "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Nope, just use the remote, I've got quite attached to my remote now, won't bother with the main unit. Also what's interesting is the remote is getting most of the wear and tear so if it craps out, I just get another remote not another Hi-MD unit.

So it would be correct to say that Linear PCM gives the highest sound quality possible versus other formats? And .wav uses PCM right or could it use other formats?

I'm not 100% sure what you're talking about but I think they do.

Is there any one simple way to remove album art or prevent it from being transferred onto md? Because imo it is quite useless and would really rather not have it. Also is there a way to remove them from existing mds? I know you could go to Explorer's view and uncheck hide system files, and then delete the jpegs manually, but that is quite time consuming. Help would be appreciated.

It's amazing how many people have joined since then. I think I might have another account before this one that I forgot the username and password for, just really don't remember.

The comment about Bose being the ipod of speakers sums it up pretty clearly to me. Lots of advertising but doesn't sound all that great. Thank goodness I never planned on buying Bose in the distant future. Just wanted to hear more opinions before saying no to Bose. And yes I do realize a demo room they setup is not the most ideal place to listen to, what I meant was I don't know much about Bose myself.
-
I want to know what you guys think of Bose. I've read some very negative reviews to some customers who are very pleased. Originally I thought highly of Bose and thought the sound quality wasn't bad, but now I think twice. I've only heard the LifeStyle 38 system (or was it 48...) in a demo room they had setup. Just want to know what you think of Bose's sound quality.

If they both provide equal sound quality then the choice is obvious... unless the EX85's have serious build quality issues. These aren't available yet are they?

Reanimating a lost Hi-MD with RH1 is possible
Sparda replied to enaef's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
So you could say that this is theoretically correct, but nevertheless doesn't work when applied to real word situations? -
I wouldn't let this small problem affect me decision on buying a new DAP. Take the iPod for example, you risk the harddrive failing on you, you also risk being unable to replace the rechargeable Li-Ion battery. Flash based players suffer from memory loss, as you use it more and more the capacity slowly decreases for no apparent reason. I guess what I'm saying is, if you don't go with MD you will also encounter a bunch of problems with other solutions. But it's your choice, since I personally wouldn't like it if my ribbon cable broke too.

So yes if I previously set it on Custom and then unplug the remote and use the line-out via the main unit the settings should stay the same? I wish Sony could allow remote only functions (and the other way around) on the main unit through a firmware update. Track information via main display would be a plus.
-
Oh, so its pretty much the same then. Guess I will go invest on blanks. Thanks for the quick reply.

And I thought I found the perfect pair, even the price was right for me. Need something with strogn bass yet maintaining the highs. Maybe I should just buy the PX-100's? But I don't like headbands...

Does the recorder only menus appear on the remote with the RM-MC40ELK? Like date changing or erasing tracks. Cause the RM-MC38EL would be perfectly fine if its the same.
-
For just interviews I think the NH700 is enough. But in my opinion I think that the RH1 is really worth the money it would do you go in the later years. If you can get your hands another another Li-Ion battery then thats a good idea.

These posts are fun to read. Don't see how you need so many... hope you aren't recording in PCM for everything. I only have 4 80min MDs + 3 Hi-MDs... I fill them all up with songs I listen to the most. Maybe it's because I'm just a teen and don't have much cash to go around?

Interesting Number Four, although I really wouldn't know myself. I have a new question and really didn't feel like starting a new thread for another of my random questions. You know the buds that come with the RH1 for North America... what model is that? Just for future reference.
