what does it do when you try to play the disk?

the 480 deck does not have a digital out but i dont think it does mdlp. it is also a cheap entry level model. the 640 is a higher end model but i think no mdlp but it has digital out. that is a very tough decision. if you dont need mdlp then i think i would get the 640 deck. you can use sonic stage to edit the track names after recording on either model.

if you can get a 5x sp deck with shipping included that would be awesome!!! you should definitly get it. but just be warned you might be able to copy the cd to md at 5x but you will have to wait for the full time of the normal cd play time before you can copy a second one. it was some crazy copy protection scheme i remember reading about. not to pick on anyone but 64kbps hi-lp is much worse sounding than lp2... yes that might be the best way.

other than the 4x deck someone mentioned. no!

lp4 is really bad you should not use it unless it is for pure speech only!

do you know anyone with a volt meter just measure the output pins and see if the voltage is there.

it sucks you want to play the music on your old units because what you want to do would be super easy with very hi quality. if you only needed to use the rh1 use hi-sp. but the songs will not play on any of the older recorders you have. lp2 sounds like crap . it might be easy to tell if you listen to it carefully. recording in lp2 will play on all your units except the r55 which only plays sp mode. if you use sonic stage to transfer as sp you will get lp2 quality in sp mode which doesnt even sound close to sp in sound quality.

i assume you cleaned the laser and tried multiple disks?

i would love to buy it too but i dont have that kind of spare money.

i always do my transfers with battery power. it always works fine.

open the unit check the laser position it should be all the way to the left. thats where it should start to read the disk.

maybe they are going out of business

keep the 700 it has mdlp and a longer battery life

with the lid open look inside and see it the laser is moved to the left to the inner most position where is should be i have seen it get stuck at the end position.

I suggest that you make a copy of the mp3's you are trying to transfer into a new folder then import them then try the transfer. i have had good luck this way before when i get the error message you did.

maybe the batter is fully discharged and the unit doesnt like it. can you try to charge it by some other means then see if the unit can charge it after that?

i know he should keep the wave files but cant the oma's be created without copy protection?

does it have a sidecar attachment for an "aa" battery can it be attached to the pc with a usb cable

maybe i just need a more hi end unit! i will get one next time.

you can also use hi-md renderer which can be downloaded here. it will transfer the files by an analog cable through the sound card input.

hi its me again someone on this board must use a 600d for general listening??? anyone have thoughts on the sound quality?

no there is no optical out. only optical in.

i have a 600d hi md north american model player only unit. the unit seems to have a easy to notice missing hi end the eq adjustments do not improve the sound. i know the unit is not broken. i am just wondering since the eq highest band settiog is only 10khz if that means the unit tops out around 15khz or something i have several other portable md units. the have a much better hi end using them attached to my receiver at home or using the same set of headphones. has anyone else noticed this. this happens even when using pcm mode. i just want it to sound the way it should.
