  1. Just read that the O2 show in London was on spot , and that Zepp did their thing , and did it good ....... did anyone here just happen to make that show?
  2. Instead of waiting on Sony and uploads Just Download Audacity , and hook your MD to line input of your soundcard and record it into the hardrive that way . Or SoundStudio from Freeverse has been seriously upgraded and even has me thinking about it for the price , file seperation ability bookmarking (trackmarks) etc and good effect processing to clean up every thing , make it sound good . The Sony Process is cumbersome for that project. You really need more editing ability if you wish to do Audio Books , I like the idea , and am happy to see the MD getting used properly , but Sony never really thought about Computer compatability , that was an afterthought . The Line out will be clean so going Line out to Line in on your computer will not be a problem just pay attention to levels , and afterwards throw a little noise reduction and compression and your better half will sound like an FM superstar.
  3. Hi end Camera shop , They have neoprene filter pouches (I use one myself) get the thickest one that will fit , oversized is a good thing .
  4. The sound pressure level , causes atmospheric vibration that is just as strong as if the MD was sitting on a Vibrating surface , Not Good . Being farther back you reduced the Vibration to the unit itself try getting a thick neoprene pouch and put the MD inside it . so that it acts as a sound barrier.
  5. Leopard , isnt going to run MD Transfer 2.0 , Sony stopped developement on it because they stopped the Portable MD line , their recording is going Flash based . I am also on Mac , and will not upgrade to Leopard , Tiger is fine , I dont need 3D desktop , a flash and fluff , just a machine that works .
  6. Actually it can be done , I did it on a couple of discs and they wouldnt play on my 930 but would in the RH1 it was weird . you actually have to Format the disc to erase it , but try this , take and put the RH1 in HiMD mode Set rec to HIsp not PCM , then record something on a standard unit in SP mode or LP mode it wont matter . then put the disc in the RH1 , , do End search , and record on the RH1 , that file will be in HiMD mode but on a disc that is formatted standard Atrac , what happened with one of my files , was a disc that was in Standard , had some practice sessions on it , then I captured something with the RH1 and the AT822 , I thought the RH1 was in Reg md mode but it wasnt it was in HiSP recording , the file actually played in my MZ-B10 but it read as LP mode but the Audio was funky and the timing was way off .
  7. hmmm , I wonder if the RH1 was in HiMD mode when he recorded the new material , so now the disc in part Himd and part SP , that might be confusing it .
  8. infatuation,.... Didnt Rod Stewart describe that effect rather nicely .
  9. They said they "will try Europe after the American venture proves successful" ,....... the surety of their statement was interesting.
  10. Well the Beatles werent recorded in a HD format to begin with so you wont get a truly appreciable difference there. The Vollenvieder was recorded Hi Def from the very first string pluck all the way thru to mastering. I am just using a pair of Edirol Powered speakers that have Optical and coaxial inputs . MA 10D's 10 watt digital amp inside . It isnt power that gives detail( although it really helps ) but the amp and speakers being balanced well, and the efficiency of the speakers . When I put in the Vollenvieder the look on freinds faces change with the sound in the room , eyes open up , and "wow" is quite often the expression heard. The 10d's sound better to me than the big brothers , the 20 's were to boomy and boxy sounding , but the 10's are pretty balanced for a small room. and not too expensive . I bought them used for 70 dollars . Add a sub , put a longer connector between them and get them up and spread out a little , and they are quite nice .
  11. keep the WAV's , you gotta surf sometime.
  12. I like the SACD , if you have a system capable of reproducing what it can put out , My DVD player is SACD compatable , but my other CD players end up downsampling the SACD's that I have . 1 wont even play them , I have Andreas Vollenveider , Caverna Magica , in 20 bit SACD and the detail is phenominal
  13. Yeah I read that this morning , that will be an interesting outlet for MD'ers eh , Bland you live in the Yokohama area and never get in contact with me , I dont get it . By the way your collection pages , are very cool , I love the individual displays of each MD . You really should PM ne dude , I have not 1 but TWO BBQ grills and a Back Yard . ......and I am just a few stations away . Sotetsu line .
  14. Ahh he know's it by its Proper name , The Source is STRONG in this one , yes Jedi of Audio he is indeed hmmmm. !
  15. No ,.... get an an Old TEAC 3400 in good shape and marvel at just how good analouge CAN sound , or Studer Revox , or ...God forbid the Nakamichi CR7A . The Black Orpheus of Cassette decks .
  16. Hey Tia , I have a program for MAC that does just that , 8 Tracks at once , no bells no whistles , You will want a Firewire interface . Edirol has a 10 in 10 out that should work nicely , but the MOTU 828 would probably be a better bet also more expensive . I can send you the programs DMG file by email . it is only 2.7 megs What it does , is record 8 seperate tracks (that you label and assign first) into 8 seperate files ( 8 individual wav files will be on your desktop numbered and named) and ready to import into your editing software ( including Garageband ) PM me ( clik on my name and "send message " private messages you can send me your email , dont do it here . )
  17. When you say "Like new " how many times has it been used . Battery cycles , etc. Like new does not apply to just the image .
  18. 24 bit vrs 16 bit The Audio bitstream contains packages of information . Each package contains a certain amount of information . In this case 1 package contains 24 bits of information , and 16 bit contains 16 bits of info for each package . The Sample rate determines how many packages per second ( 44.1Khz , 48 khz , 96khz etc) 44.1 khz means that Packages of info are sent 44,100 times per second 48 khz means 48,000 times per sec . etc...... as you can see , the bit rate and package size will determine how much audio info is delivered , so that will show how wide the Audio Image will be . Hope that helps.
  19. No Supermodels for me , too much like Lamborginis , cost too much to maintain , and you can never get the full capability out of them anyway without breaking the law . Now an Accura NSX-R from say 1992-93 custom model that was actually affordable, and would out manuever a Lambo thru the turns anyday of the week !! Nope no Supermodels for me , a Real girl , that likes Blue jeans and plays guitar/cello , likes BBQ , camping , hiking , does NOT drink Budweiser , but prefers a good IPA , or Singletrack Red Ale . Not into the Fashion scene , but has self confidence enough to know that she has got what she needs. A good time , is way more important than an armpeice.
  20. See if there is a disconnect from inside SS4.2 or right klik the MD whick should be visible in MY Computer , or on your desktop then select remove
  21. Well as per 440's plug for me , The very first MD I recorded , is still playing fine. I have many that are 93-94 vintage I recorded a lot of stuff , and they are still going . the only problem I get is on Other brands of players the Atrac format might be just a little different and it might not read on that unit , but that is a rare issue . I somewhat agree with the Multiple medium storage thought , but then I still have LP's and a Turntable . Back at ya 440 !
