I will be in Yokohama tomorrow , I will see if I can play with the menues on 1 and see if I can figure it out for you . shouldnt be very hard ,there has to be a Langauge menu somewhere in there.

I don't agree with doing anything less than the best I CAN do , I treat my guitar customers the same way . The DH10p will be an asset to my Guitar lessons , the scrollable feature and display , and mp3 ability are perfect . Thank you .

Dolby Surround , and 5,1 are two different things . Dolby surround is a psuedo surround based on Psycho acoustic principles designed to simulate surround. Many MD players from the N series on into the HiMD player have that type or a very similar type built in . It is in the Sound menu. 5.1 is and actual encoding of several channels of audio to be decoded by a 5.1 capable proccessor in order to send each respective channel to its appropriate place (ie. Front Left , Front Right , Rear Left ,Rear Right , and subsonic frequencies sent to a Mono source out ) What you stated is that it was 5.1 ....... it is NOT , and it cannot be . At the time of the Prerecorded MD's being release , 5.1 hadnt even been composed yet , sound was still in the Dolby THX stages , and the only thing remotely close to 5.1 , was in Movie Theater sound systems , which I helped install . Dolby Surround is still a stereo (Left ,Right ) 2 channel process . It use a Phase varient dual channel process to SIMULATE surround . MD is not Capable of 5.1 , the processors in MD are stereo Two channel A/D -D/A conversion . You have to HAVE a 5.1 Channel Digital process to Get 5.1 and the speaker system, amplifier, and all the other goodies to go with it , 5.1 just doesnt come from 2 channels .

if you dont have the same type of plug on the audigy , do you have RCA's that say "Line In "?? should have , that would be how you connect . 1/8 in stereo plug input http://a763.g.akamai.net/7/763/1644/1/app..../1/VPID/4168601 I think this is your card yes ? , the Green input should be LINE input read the spec sheet on your card , you should have Mic level , Line level , Digital SPDIF in and out . you want 1/8 stereo male to male cable from MD to LINE IN , then Audacity works just like a tape deck, go into preferences, select the I/O section , and set recording quality as well , close audacity then start it back up . Double tap the input meter to start it monitoring hit play on the MD and adjust the levels so the meter looks good . stop the MD , rewind , then put your mouse on the record button of Audacity hit record and start the MD , a Track will appear and start scrolling across the screen with the Audio Capture being displayed . when your done hit stop , then edit till your heart is content , If your on a Mac all the AU Effects Apple Core effects will show in Audacity's effect menu. Drag your cursor over a selection of the audio to highlight it then go up to "Effects " and klik it a drop down will open showing you all the effects available. Be sure to Undo anything you dont like before doing another effect on top of ..... if you know what I mean .

Take a pic of the Back , so people can see the cool Trekkie type controls , then you'll get some interest. Its the ONLY model Sony did this to , If noone gets it from you Ray we can work something out . I think it is a cool player even if it is the OLD SP I still record most stuff in SP

Just record it from your Soundcard the same way you did the HI FI , If you can Play the Podcast on the Computer , you can record it to your MD Might be slower than an iPoood , but way more permanent . !!!! MD Rulz

Help - How to get the best recording from my microphone
Strungup replied to hsl13's topic in Live Recording
I have the 959a which is the same mic already built for MD , it has the 1/8 inch stereo plug on it . I would trade if you want . I like the mic for certain things . For Loud Music , you will want to set your MD Mic sensitivity to Low (in the menus under recording options ) and keep you rec levels low , Watch the meters very carefully . PM me if your interested , My 959a is in the original Box with tripod and windscreen all accessories. -
He does learn fast doesn't he. Sony , the Omnicient , ...........ummmm , I forgot what was I supposed to Know ?????

What exactly is your problem ?? Here klik this , make SURE that you READ the directions , and learn how to use the software , I will help if I can , http://support.sony-europe.com/DNA/Softwar...fer/MT.asp?l=en When you connect the RH1 look on your desktop for an Icon that is Blue , and says HiMd Monitor or transfer one of the two , double klik IT , and not the drive icon when MD Transfer window opens , it might take a sec , but then your files will show up . The ONLY files that you can see will be in HiMD mode , you CANNOT transfer Regular MD SP or anything not HiMD , it just wont show up .

I hook my RH1 up to the optical out of my Macbook Pro , hit AOL Radio select a station and let it roll , that way when I am out I got radio I can actually listen to . ( I am in Japan , you dont wanna hear Japanese Radio AAAAAHHHHGGGGGGGGG)
-
Well , the 3HD isnt what your looking for , it is a downloader player with exeptional battery life, and sound , but it doesnt have the Mic inputs and stuff you would want . RH1 if you want HImd or M200 (same thing )
-
Hey Big , there are threads for bragging rights over the Collections , lets keep em organized , this Raj's place of suffering , kinda sacred ground eh , the 3hd is Object De' art for Raj .
-
welcome to the addiction, my wife is still talking about putting me in some facility for detox.
-
yes it does , It uses HHB own software , and uploads as wav
-
Ouch , Raj , for you that is like parting with the firstborn ........ what gives dude???

The SE-9 isnt a portable , it is a Deck system with a DVD player and 5.1 built in , what comes out of the MD is a Virtual 5.1 it is synthesized , or created after the fact , All of the prerecorded MD 's are Stereo format . There are a few collectors on the board here ( I am one ) I have about 12 Pre records but there were about 300 different titles released ,..... you happen to have one of the coolest ones , and if there is something you want from Japan , I would be VERY happy to do some trading with you . My wife would go nuts if I presented that to her ( BIG Yes fan ) .

Dave PM me , I have your mic. TC I am also in Japan , Yokohama area to be exact

The Label , or File name , is different from what is called an iD3 tag , which is embedded in the MP3 itself , that is the file that iTunes wants to see. If an iD3 tag has not been created , iTunes wont see it . If you import these files to iTunes ( in iTunes prefs deselect import to iTunes folder , and the files will stay where they are ) then you can edit them individually and give them iD3 tags , then iTunes will be able to sort them and place them in a group instead of individual files saying "unknown artist "

Basically MD is just stereo audio , no DTS or surround , that would all be generated from an external device . Say you recorded optically to the MD , what would come out would either be a mess , or it would pick out the Stereo portion of the signal only because as it is recording (unless your in PCM mode) it is being converted to Atrac , and I dont believe that Atrac supports anything other that Binaural audio.

And everyone here secretely agrees , but its Sony we are talking about , They dont listen to nobody .......

Well for lessons , (I am a guitar teacher ) I would have to say that the 200 will cover the Zoom H2 , but it wont cover the RH1 , and mic , I have both the H2 and the RH1 +several very nice mics , there is a difference in audio quality , but for your situation , the H2 will be the best bet . Why : Built in Tuner for checking your Pitch ( as a Horn player you need that)Built in Metronome , that has a wide variety of settings( you monitor thru headphones)The ability to record in many formats , and upload straight to an email from the machine itself ( connects as an external drive, so you can uplaod straight from there to the email )Built in Mics , and a Mono Mix ability (self explanitory ) a Limiter that functions moderately well , and has selectable settingsfits in your pocket! As I said the sound quality, wont be that of an RH1 (400 bucks) and an AT-822 (another 300) but the H2 will be VERY usable for just what you want to do , Practice Music , Practice , Practice,Practice , and then go play some ! I am an MD loyalist , but purpose ,needs met by solution .......MD in this case is one solution , but not the correct one.
